DT is currently in a very awkward position, the update is slow, there is a big update in 3 months, and the update content is not enough to play for 3 months. Moreover, the servers are getting worse these days.
I have observed the number of players in V2 for nearly a year, and it has always been around 2K~3K. And DT each large update the number of players can reach more than 10K, after the talent update there is a time of 2 months to maintain the number of players,20K~30K, but because of the slow update efficiency of the fat shark, the players will be lost after a month, and finally fixed at 3K~5K, until the next big update.
If you don’t have plans for V3 at the moment, invest more in DT. 4 big updates a year is too little, 6 is about right, DT is worth investing more, thank you
V2 is an old game, two major updates a year is enough, the rest of the time for maintenance and festival events is no problem. If you prefer the V2 series, you can develop V3, and I will continue to support V3. But if there are no plans for V3, focus on DT
Well according to CMs the DT team is the biggest of the 3.
Now, if Vt2 or that unnamed project favoured for work over DT.
Probably not, Vt2 can seem to get more content, but that mainly cause Versus was meant to drop 3 years ago (when was the first teaser for it again ?), and that Vt2 is probably not looking any more big thing.
There is an excel file that has time lines of both Vt games as well as DT. We see roughly the same (or more) update speed with DT, with more content having been added since launch in the same time (weapons, even maps, only thing that at the same age we haven’t got against Vt2 is a new faction, which came with the WoM dlc).
There is also the potential that yes they have Devs working on things that aren’t mentioned or meant for this year or the next.
Do remember that both Prem Career and Chaos Waste were released with them not being revealed till a couples of days before they were meant to launch.
it depends on how much you play, but the amount of content Fatshark provides can be consumed within about a month by a dedicated gamer. especially recently, the game has mostly been receiving fixes and overhauls, with very little completely new content. Havoc was released in an unfinished and broken state, with no matchmaking system, which led to it quickly falling out of play.
Where is everyone getting that VT3 may be the next title? I prefer Fantasy over 40k and I would love a vermintide 3 but I would love to know where you all are getting this information/speculation
Tbh, I would love that a different company give me a stressful game like darktide. I don’t care of Warhammer universe, and I dislike totally how Fatshark conducts its business (crappy shop, lack of balance, bad design, things not corrected several months, features promised never delivered, shop prices increases while they propose recolors etc.)
I pray that a different company come to this gameplay. Cause I doubt this is a niche… I am sure this is cause of their way to manage their business.
Look how many copies were sold for Darktide! look how many still play it.
Tbh, I don’t expect something from them… Havoc was so much a disappointment… they CAN’T learn. Simple as that.
I might be the minority (or given up) but I like the current state of Darktide. The game runs and looks great and there are monthly events that bring me back for a mission or two.
Nothing about the current game state gives me the urge to try a new build, unfortunately.
Every time I log in I see low rank console players in the lobby, so the numbers on the forums I’m not sure are 100% accurate.
I’ve been playing more recently but that’s mostly intro-ing new-ish players and having a chill time. I did my Auric sweatlording and now I’m just vibing on lower difficulties.
The biggest issue is Darktide is carried by combat alone (and music). The maps for the most part aside from the newer stuff blend together, balance is all over the place, the commisary is a joke, and the pennance battle pass system is a bit lame, a lot of those cosmetics feel like an afterthought, also tying it to basically 100% completion is rough, I have no desire to play Ogryn in its current state and leveling is still a chore.
I doubt havoc was much of a time and resources investment the only things ‘new’ about it is the area on the ship and the ui
Everything else is just either recycled assets and mission modifiers. It’s really just something they quickly threw together to have an update to go with the PlayStation release
Indeed, but it fits with the MO from VT2. That is, at this point in the lifecycle of the VT2 (and really, who has any actual insight into these decisions?) it seems it was determined that effort should be devoted (in part, I guess, because there was also a new faction added at this time) to adding additional content for very seasoned players. In both Cataclysm and Weaves, the focus was clearly on hardcore players. I purchased WoM, but I never really played Weaves and never touched Cataclysm…I (along with my friends) simply wasn’t the target audience.
Same with Havoc.
I don’t know if it’s the right call, but I do think they learned some things between VT2 and DT. For one, they didn’t charge any money for Havoc (and probably wouldn’t have, given the monetization scheme, even if it would have included some new mobs and a single new level). They didn’t add seasonal resets of progress. Or do fixed-spawn puzzle-like levels, like in Weaves. Or invest a significant amount of time into a new leveling system. And they tied pretty much all of the meaningful rewards to relatively-lower difficulties.
Assuming they’re following the same general game plan from VT2 (serve the hardcore players first, then add content more suited for everyone), I’m very much looking forward to what comes next. A Chaos Wastes equivalent, offering a gameplay experience for all levels of players and centered around the core combat but with an eye towards replayability, would be excellent.
