I’m probably the millionth person to say this but I feel like FS is sitting on a goldmine that is Darktide. If they put forth the same attention they give VT2 to Darktide, this game would knock it out of the park. It seems like the devs would rather put their energy into pushing out new content for a 7-year-old game rather than putting that energy into the development of Darktide, which seems to be at a dripfeed pace. I’m not suggesting abandoning VT2, it’s a great game, but just imagine if Darktide got that level of content. VT2, at this point, should really be getting mostly balance and tweak updates rather than full blown DLCs meanwhile Darktide is kinda left by the roadside, high and dry. Darktide could be an absolute money maker for FS, but they seem to be reliant on the slow, dehydrating burn, hoping the game will be relevant years from now before pushing out an appropriate amount of content. I love both Darktide and VT2, but the difference in content and sheer attention is astonishing.
VT2 was made for passion.
DT was made to make money.
Vt2 basically has gotten through its difficult years, so now it is able to get stuff more easily (and to some people’s opinion) faster due to not needing as much future proofing.
Is Vt2 getting more work than DT. No, and it is laughable to think it does.
Could Darktide get more stuff, yes, but we then would need to see FS grow considerably larger than they are.
180 employees, which unlike quite a lot of companies also count artists isn’t enough to sate the players.
In the end Vt2, is mostly getting “basic” updates, this year we got 1 new enemy (Chaos Warrior with shield), and 3 maps (1 being special).
On the other hand, DT got:
- Arbites
- Mortis Trial (With 3 maps)
- Whole rebalance update
- New weapon Marks and the Falchion
And still is getting:
- Hive Scum
- Trench Thingy
Complain all you want, but don’t consider that Vt2 is getting more than it deserve.
Yep. DT has some of the best combat I’ve ever played and definitely one of the best gameplay loops ever.
But damn it’s so stale. The Devs seem to be totally tone deaf…or just deaf, given how much we’ve all suggested what could improve it. Y’know the players with thousands of hours who eat, sleep and breathe DT. But we keep being ignored.
New maps? Unlock all modifiers? Nah here have the leftovers class that no one asked for after we got a class recently. The mond boggles.
Terrible arena horde mode that is sleep inducingly boring given the base power creep + the extra you get per round
This isn’t content. This is just FS trying to fix their balance mistakes. Classes are mostly balanced between each other, with some extreme outliers but the power creep has reached a point where the game isn’t fun anymore.
Copypasting a weapon and slightly changing the attack pattern order isn’t content. It’s lazy.
I love getting sold dual wielding weapons as a DLC when it was accessible to several classes in baseline VT2
Another 10 minute corridor map. Amazing.
The game neees actual content as in normal maps and *new* weapons.
Yes I think DT should get more maps and that should be their priority in 2026
But holy how entitled to say “VT2 IS GETTING ALL THE ATTENTION!!” when it got 3 maps and a copy paste of Bulwarks (that is somehow better designed than bulwarks whoops) in the entire year
DT got so much more this year
I see your point, but as a counterpoint, DT is getting a lot of fixes (even cosmetics) while VT is sitting on a pile of bug reports higher than Karak Eight Peaks.
Both games seem to be getting different things, and as much as I’d like to see a bit of the other thing trickling into the other game, refining gameplay on DT while focusing on story for VT does seem to make sense.
VT2 isn’t under some grand development scheme that has more resources than this game, I bet it’s quite the opposite.
they put out as much work as they want to, always have, always will
enjoy them for what they are, not what they can be
Mortis was a waste of time
We need new missions not forgettable side modes that just development take time away from the content people actually play.
1 new story mission in a year is a absolute joke no matter how you frame it.
Mortis feels like they wanted to drop some sick backstory lore (since none of the Rejects have any, seriously that was a massive mistake) and didn’t want to make a full mission to go along with any of it, so here you go.
A lot of mortis trials was probably also them realizing people really really want Chaos Wastes, but not being able to deliver on it. So they halfassed it instead, which is a horrid idea for an alternate gamemode. I’d be surprised if anyone actually played more than like 4 of them for fun. Achievement hunting maybe.
Honestly the stupidest logic by Fatshark. How tf do you pump out content for a game 7 years old and leave your newest (more popular IP) on the backburner? They need a big ass slap in the face for that.
A total nonsense.
And I just don’t understand what happens about it.
Well, in a recent interview that Jefficus did with the game director, he said that currently FatShark in “Still working on VT2 and are knee-deep in DT”. To me, it means that they are actually shifting their resources onto DT.
I hope that the results of that will be something like 5-6 major updates in a year or at least more content in each new addition.
From what I heard, the new map will not be time based like the train mission is. It will be shorter, but it won’t take only 10 minutes to complete.
