So on PC, you hold whatever button would bring up Melk contracts, and than you have to cycle the screen to the event tracker with an additional button press. It should show what button to press on the right side of the screen.
Unfortunately I don’t know how to bring up the Melk contract screen on console. Hope this helps.
For what it is worth… i am glad to see someone at least saying something.
I mean… a few months ago i begged for a sign of life and got nothing… but to be honest, you are still short of the bare minimum.
What we need, badly,… what we already needed 6 months ago… is transparancy and some show of “this whole game hasn’t already been written off and we just try to nickel and dime you with over priced ugly cosmetics, while trying to leverage the humiliation fetish by calling you names”.
The last “update” is the 2nd update to the penances and i am not going to boot the game back up for more opportunities to grind.
Your next big thing is the itemization overhaul, also the 2nd attempt, and i am not going to log on to grind more of the same old.
I seriously hope you guys actually have some plans on how to freshen up the content, because functionally nothing changed since release. Yes enemies now spawn all around me which killed the marksman play style, i got new talents to allow me to play my veteran as a discount Zealot… but other than that its just grind. Grind this and that…
Where is new gameplay? You even removed Flashmissions without a word… and here i was hoping they be like Vermintides chaos wastes.
Give us something new that isn’t more grinding and communicate with us… build hype and excitement…
Don’t just seem like you can’t be ar… like with this event. If you don’t care… why should I?
The unattainable penance was removed, but flash missions were never in the game before maelstroms, unless I am remembering incorrectly. But I can’t argue that they removed the penance and didn’t explain that until later.
The problem is more that they described Flash Missions as brief and more difficult scenarios (kinda like weaves) and then just went toot its more modifiers instead (like so many transformed promises). Game needs more game modes. Especially with how many ‘finales’ kill any tension in difficult mods already.
Badwin’s right. It was just a change of terminology, and that specific penance that was removed was reworked in the penance update.
The Auric Mission board was probably the second best update this game had imo.
Maelstroms pretty much perfectly fit what I would want out of a “flash mission.” Harder missions that provide greater rewards with a limited time to complete them.
No, you’re correct on that. Flash missions were never in. And the way “Flash mission” sounds, I get the idea that it would have had to do with mission timers and these missions showing up for a very short time as semi"-secret" missions or such.
I think they did good with the Maelstrom missions instead. Hits the theme of the game more and makes sense.
There was some explanation of what they were going to be pre-release in this dev blog
You can see them in the mdidle of the screenshots where maelstroms are now, and the mission is described in this way:
As for missions of critical timing, these get highlighted in the middle of the Mission Terminal. These urgent encounters have better rewards and higher intensity in combat, so in true grim-dark fashion, you might not survive :).
To me that just sounds like maelstroms. Apparently they said they’re not the same thing though or something? But it literlaly just looks like maelstroms with a lower timer. My guess is they just forgot to turn the flash mission penance into a maelstrom penance when they implemented them under the new name.
Funny read in general though, it mentions global conditions. Remember those? Once and never again
There was an unused assault modifier for the longest time, that massively increased spawns (beyond what we have now even), added plenty of ammo drops and turned the game into some sort of shooty shooty game. Maybe they meant that. Not sure, though.
such wow, much doge, very woof, many doge food, very jumps, such overwhelm
yeah and then they admitted the game mode was to debug dogs. back when most everyone playing was of agreement they were so messed up in terms of their AI randomly gaining boss level stagger resistance/zigging and zagging that the best play when you heard a dog was to stand on a box or next to a door. pox pups were one of the only ideas I saw posted here make it to the game.
My theory about Flash Missions was, for the longest time, based on the two pictures we see in that dev blog. It shows Power Matrix and Enclavum Baross as the Flash Mission but it shows them both being raids rather than the repair and strike that they are. SO my theory was that Flash missions were alternate versions of the same maps. In that case, we’d show up to the Power Matrix map but raid it rather than repair it. Switch around the objective, maybe switch up the mid-event and finale, maybe even different arenas entirely on slightly altered paths.
But, alas, while we will never know the entirety of what they were intended to be, after the Maelstrom Dev-blog was released, you could see in that one a very similar shot of the mission terminal. Except in that it shows Magistrati Oubliette also as a raid instead of the assassination that it is. And since Maelstrom missions don’t do anything like that, I had to revise my theory. The raid icon is most likely just a WIP placeholder or the default setting (probably why we had so many more than any other kind for a bit there, come to think of it).
On the other hand, the Special Assignment -all one of them we have had so far- has kinda been what I imagined. I mean, it morphed Magistrati Oubliette but it did just kinda go from an assassination to an assassination so not really a category change, just a change of the events and the overall path with a couple new rooms.
I think the lights out event was the only time in the game’s life so far where I thought “wow this actually kinda makes up for how inconvenient the mission board is”. Suddenly the lights went out and you suddenly came across daemonhosts in those missions which you’ve never seen before. Genuinely cool how they implemented those.
If they ever bring the concept back they should do stuff like that. Imagine if pox bombers were introduced together with a global pox gas modifier for one day. I’m sure people would complain but I think that kind of thing is fun and thematic, and if it’s just one day you can’t be too mad even if you don’t enjoy it (leaving the dogs on for 2 months was not a good idea)
So what you are saying the mission type that wasn’t flash missions got were actual Flash Missions and not an ad hoc excuse when caught red handed about removing a feature that was supposed to be in at launch but never made it in. And then someone quickly went “oh those are actually Maelstrom missions, we totally had planned that from the start”
And the penance was unattainable, and was for completing one and 5 missions, because Maelstrom missions weren’t flash missions. Maelstrom missions got born because people kept clamoring for more difficult content and modifiers.
I don’t buy it for a second that flash missions were ever maelstrom missions. They are just another cut feature, the removal of which they didn’t even bother to put into the patch notes and only went “oh those are actually that other thing” when someone asked about it.
Now if they had said the Flash Missions were the High Priority missions, like the fight against the Twins, then at least i can see how it could have evolved. But Maelstrom? Nah, i don’t buy it.
More like flash missions weren’t even completed yet. They had it lying around as a concept and had some code related to it, but it wasn’t properly done and not ready to be shipped. Probably all sorts of bugged, too, knowing how the rest of the development went.
So yeah, we never got flash missions to begin with. But I think you’re right in so far, that they were not meant to be Maelstrom missions, but something else.
I mean the word already implicates something else. Flash, as in fast, quick, flashy. Maelstrom stands for difficulty, alien concepts, a big water tornado in the sea. It is different on a conceptual level.
I like how I just saw this 20 days later lmao. Oh well, all we can do is hope one day they acquire a developer or two that has some real passion and wants to dedicate their time to improving the actual quality of the game and not their bosses bottom line.
