Would it not be lore accurate to have tattoos and face mutilations that represents chaos cults and lifestyles of traitors before they were captured?
In lore not all heretics were executed and some were able to be given the chances at redemption.
I thought maybe it would be neat to allow more player expression for 40k fans that had preferences for none loyalist factions. Like in space marine 2 you can wear traitor legion emblems and colors as an ultra marine.
Correct me if I am wrong… but we claim our innocence and shout our allegiance to the emperor in the starting level…
So, I don’t think we would have heretic tatoos. Moreover, I don’t think the inquisition would consider such individuals to work for them (even in suicidal strike force team).
An heretic would try to escape to join chaos forces…
Yes I mean they can still be loyalist, they just still have the markings of their past. “misplaced faith” is a selection in the character creation section of the game.
Or at the least add more customization that can fit a class. The psyker having tzeentch tattoos would not be out of character especially the loner.
Also the zelot gets very close to sounding like a khorne worshipper with some of their dialogue.
Mostly chaos concept come from Moorcock and is pretty close to it, really close.
I don’t have one example of a corrupted individual that has been liberated of this corruption.
Only example are demon hosts… but when you deliver them, they are no more here to thank you… lol
Speak for yourself… my loner lies about her allegiance to the Emperor. Schemes and sabotage are most effective when an operative is embedded within the enemy.
It’s the punishment for being a mutant in the Imperium. Stolen away as a child on the blackships, then experimented on by the Mechanicus. Now, their tiny minds cannot comprehend the schemes my loner’s master Tzeentch has in store for them…
They thought she was a weakling, so they discarded her to the Mourningstar but little do they know she had a null-amp device implanted in her as a child to suppress her powers, before she was stolen away… a device she will remove when the time is right.
I cannot imagine any circumstance where an Inquisitor, let alone one of the Ordo Hereticus, would allow anyone who bore any marks or brands of heresy to live, let alone serve the Imperium. It would undermine the strict conformity that is enforced on the people to keep them in check, loyal, and wholly obedient. It would be letting an enemy live amongst your own, and can you ever trust such a person ever again?
Once an exception is made, more can follow, and that’s a precedent that would bring the topic to the Imperial citizens; if those heretics can question the Imperial Creed and be corrupted by the Enemy but be allowed to live, then what is to stop them from doing the same?
I know of one Chaos-aligned character in the lore who reformed to be loyal to the Emperor again, and that’s the Anchorite - an ex-Word Bearer Space Marine.
Whether a regular mortal could actually be enlightened and become a loyalist is up for grabs, but probably not very likely - that stuff corrupts your soul, man.
