Help me create an Arbites build for Havoc 21

I created a build and it seemed effective to me. Using this build yesterday in a match on Auric HISTG difficulty, I dealt 807,000 damage (33% of the team’s total) and made 1055 kills. At one point, I was the only one still standing and managed to rescue my teammates after covering quite a distance to reach them (though it seemed to me that there were suspiciously few enemies on my path — noticeably fewer than there would’ve been if all four of us were moving together). I was killed only once — by a Daemonhost.

Today, with the same build, in a Havoc 20 difficulty match, I dealt 547000 damage (again 33% of the team’s total) and made 637 kills.
But at Havoc 21, something broke — three consecutive failures. I seem to be losing toughness and HP extremely fast. In the first attempt, I still took first place in damage dealt; in the second — second place; and in the third, I tried a different build, which I expected would give me better survivability, but I went down first — and, worst of all, after being revived, I went down again literally half a minute later, finishing in fourth place.

Could there be some critical flaws in the build? Are there ineffective talents used instead of effective ones?
The only truly non-meta part is the Rashad Axe instead Arbites Shockmaul, but I tested the axe in the Psykhanium (on Auric difficulty) using a stopwatch, and it turned out to be more effective than a shockmaul — against weak enemies, melee elites, armored targets, and especially against Monsters (I use a mod that lets me spam heavy attacks by holding down the left mouse button).

In actual gameplay, I also noticed that my character gets staggered by enemy hits about three to four times less often than when using a shockmaul, and overall, there seem to be fewer weak enemies swarming me (when I used the mace, I was literally drowning in them). The only downside is that the attack rate feels slower — roughly three axe swings for every four shockmaul swings (I couldn’t find where to check weapon attack speed stats in Darktide).

And since attacks restore toughness, maybe that’s where the problem lies?

I would use something like this:

But it might be a playstyle issue, what you seem to be struggling the most with?

When using arbites shock maul, you need to use special attack in your combos to put electro stun on enemies. Anyway, the way i see it, arbites is not very good for the team if he don’t bring mines or dog, hence my main build that i use for havoc is a dog one.

Arbites dog win build. - Arbites Build for Darktide - Darktide WH40k

And this is best result i ever got in havoc 40 as arbites, it was either rotten armor + stims or rotten armor + purple, i honestly can’t remember. All weapons, curios and blessing with perks that i used is in the link above.

I have a problem with taking damage. I take a lot of it, and I can’t even imagine playing without True Grit. But even True Grit doesn’t always save me.

In the Auric HISTG match I mentioned earlier, I took 2,064 damage789 from the Horde and 235 from Roamers.
In the Havoc 20 match I mentioned, the one we won, I took 2,227 damage1,407 from the Horde and 246 from Roamers

How long did this game last? I want to estimate the average damage per second

Long, 1h 15m, we got 2 clutches with me, zealot or veteran, depending on clutch. I also died once, so keep in mind that without death and (or) clutches damage would be either lower or higher and if psyker died less, then damage for me and others would be way lower, that’s general pattern for games with psykers in the team.

I guess you really need to learn how to dodge better and block/push, control crowd, don’t rush ahead. You’ve taken really a lot of damage. Look at the my teammates in picture of scoreboard, there’s damage taken by them and it’s H40. Movement matters a lot in this game.

True grit is good, but keep in mind that in havoc there’s less toughness, enemies hit harder and havoc cuts max health, so you having it or not hardly matters, you will survive one-two overheads from curhsers or something with same effect in power and instead of instant death you will just lose 50, but that’s about it. After crusher overhead, there could be lone shooter who will remove another 50 and last 50 once more.

Also you said that in havoc 21 something broke after havoc 20. Havoc 21 and further is a completely different difficulty compared to 20 and below. It’s not +5% jump, it’s more like +50%. Same will be for havoc 30. And you can only play better in havoc if you play havoc.
