Helbore lasguns should shoot through teammates

It is very annoying to charge up a shot that is supposed to 1 hit kill an enemy and then see nothing happen, because an ally is standing inside you, or walked in front of you.

The helbore lasguns have a low ready speed (could use a buff) and are probably not meant to be used from the front line. When shooting from anywhere else than the frontline, it is likely that a teammate runs in the way.

The charged shot of the helbore lasgun should get a bit more enemy cleave and it should definitely be able to shoot through teammates.

I’d be a-okay if they completely stopped bullets stopping on allies and enabled friendly fire. The mechanic alone makes no sense in my opinion, especially when Ogryn is meant to be able to front line for you team… What’s the point of a front line if you can’t fight through it?

Hell no. Terrible idea for this game. Ranged weapons are too relevant for this, and it would invite too much trolling.

Trolling? Think of the possibilities though! Stick Rumbler grenades to friendly Ogryn, turn them into mobile barrels

(fr though, don’t enable friendly fire)

VT2 has Friendly Fire and it’s not a problem. And that’s while having minigun and cannon wielding dwarves, spear hurling elves, and fire ball spamming wizards. And simple solution for the rare trolls: Esc → Social → Vote to kick.

Now compare the amount of use of ranged weapons for the two games.
And compare the body size of the tank from the two games.

You can still have a lot of ranged weapon use in VT2, especially when playing on Cata+. It’s not rare to see ranged classes like engi, bw, huntsman, waystalker, rv, going full ranged the entire mission. And you can do this crazy thing of scaling the dmg dealt through FF. And once again, this is a trade-off I’m willing to make if it allows us to finally shoot through allies. And it would stop dumbasses from blindly running in front of your vet with a hellbore trying to take care of specials. I’d say having your gigantic ogryn buddy stop your bullets is a bigger problem in a game with such a strong focus on ranged weapon use.

I guess you could argue that Darktide is more casual than VT2, so it might not be something the devs want players to have to experience, that is being aware of where they position relative to their team. I’m sure majority of players are completely unaware they are even blocking their allies shots. Or at least in my experience if they are aware, they simply don’t care.

You could stay on high points and shot over our teammates.

But they removed Camo expert. Now you get shot down after a few seconds and cant do that anymore…

This works, until you have a gunney Ogryn that had the same idea and keeps walking in front of you… Or you are at one of the dozens of map sections with no high ground… Or have another vet doing the same thing and walking in front of you… or a psyker… or a zealot that wants to use a gun.

In maybe 5% of the actual gameplay situations, yes.

From experience I can tell you that it’s more like 80%, if you play for it and know about all the good places.

Staying on a high point to shoot above teammartes…
You can not do this during a fight at any doorway.
Nor any situation where the team is moving forward and you do not want to be left behind.

We always play in a whole team. And we play around the strengths and weaknesses of the individual characters and builds.
This makes a huge difference in how good Camo Expert is at the end of the day.

V2 range game is a different thing. Here half of ogryn weapons are shotguns and nade launchers for example. You will do more harm with rumbler trying to kill dog eating your teammate than dog can. Not even talking it will kill advanced mechincs like throwing nades at your own feet to save yourself from dog/mute incase.

V2 pacing is different there not so many range enemies. In V2 there is an option to spend whole run with range, here it’s reversed playing full melee is an option (not rly)

You can, people just don’t like to crouch in DT for some reason.

And ogryn exist.

Weeell, more like bad players. Good ogryns atleast trying to run from the side of some corridor/tunnel when team moves, or staying behind/aside from vet when cornering.

The charge shot getting blocked is very anticlimax. That with the set up has me using a recon las gun

100% agree game needs friendly fire.
