I’ve finished my 50th try of loading a damnation match to find 6 ogryn type enemies, and out of 50 counted attempts of booting the match, and trying to go as far as i could without killing the enemies needed. I HAVE ONLY FOUND THAT AMMOUNT 4 OUT OF 50 ATTEMPTS.
Seriously, wtf is this.
you actually have to either rely on the rng to get you that many spawns, and then coordinate for them not to die, or ignore the enemies, and rush ahead to spawn more specialists and hope you can get 6 without you getting overwhelmed at the same time.
I also hear say that it used to be 4 total instead of 6, which almost makes it too obvious it’s to encourage buying cosmetics in the shop with the aquilas, since none of the in game ticket-buyable gear looks any good.
Overall, the penance is is complete RNG nonsense right now, revert it back to 4.
I’d even be happy with 5. Six never happens and the only way to make it happen is to actively farm and shepard Ogryns untill you find the rest and either have a teammate forcefully die to them so they aggro the rest of the group or have them moved towards you. This penance is an absolute joke at 6 Ogryn bullrush strikes. I would absolutely love to see the thought process on who suggested it should be this way.
What you have to do it Kite into the map. (backwards)
Pull a map, and kite towards the finish line. Continue to pull mobs until you have the correct amount, assuming you haven’t crashed yet or got stuck/pounced by a dog.
It’s hard trolling and I would recommend a private lobby.
How can that be, i tried doing that but couldn’t get them to spawn and assumed that it’s because they don’t spawn in the start or something ? Did you manage to get it with that strat ?
I’d like to leave it here that i managed to get the achievment, after roughly 75 matches of damnation, to get a spawn of 8 ogryn types, And that in those matches i only saw 6 or more some 8 times or so, but only because i managed to get an ogryn team to shield wall the ogryn enemies to try to have more spawn further into the map. In seeing 6 spawn naturally all at once, i only saw 5 times.
I hope they add a modifier for these enemies to spawn more like the dog modifier right now, because it’s otherwise incredibly frustrating, and takes dozens of hours to achieve.
This is actually a really good advice regarding the issue that honestly should’ve been included in the game the moment this challenge criteria was increased, compared to almost any other Penance challenge this one is the only one that relies heavily into Spawn RNG to the point that its almost statistically impossible to pull off trough your skill alone, compared to other hard challenges like doing 90% of a monsters health with BrainBurst, you can at least execute it at any time…
But with Heavy Weight Champion as it is right now, you basically have to get a full party together. Play on the highest difficulty in the game with a specific modifier that isn’t always active. Pray that the Director spawns a reasonable amount of melee Ogryns (Bulwarks and Crushers) along your way and an overwhelming amount of disabling elites/specials (Hounds, Muties or Trappers) or snipers behind the hordes of infected civilian. And your team has enough of a stable connection to slog trough the many hordes you have to fight trough to get the appropriate amount of ogryns without disconnecting from the game and be replaced by a bot that will kill the ogryns you worked so hard to get into one place.
The amount of good RNG that you have to get just to be able to attempt this challenge is just so overwhelming that the challenge is left incredibly frustrating and very un fun for the amount of time and effort you have to invest compared to any other Penance in the entire game, even with and without future Penance content in mind.
