Havoc first impression

I see no incentive and am almost opposed to it since players “ranks” are on the line. This seems more toxic than a scoreboard.

My buddies and I are fine wrecking havoc on regular damnation.

i’d also add that weaves in vt2, had an amazing soundtrack just for the weaves only.
they were really nice, especially the one of fire. along with the cool lighting for each weave type.
in havoc i don’t reckon any new soundtrack specifically for the game mode, nor any variation with lighting which is basically flat and monotonous. i’d wish at least for unique maps for havoc game mode.

and the cool looking weave skins
(but yea in 40k there cant be the same, but at least more skins to unlock… just 1 cosmetic set is too low, should give other old cosmetics that are black too maybe)

Also Fatshark: “So anyway, limited attempts based on playing with randoms that you have to manually find, who doesn’t love knock off mythic keys?”

Ok, just played my second Havoc match. Rank 17.

@FatsharkStrawHat my group had the 9999 error again. I joined another party from the Party Finder, I believe it was a rank 2. The party leader tried multiple times to start the mission but it kept throwing 9999 until I attempted to start my Rank 17. Please let me know if it would be helpful to provide any other information. I played an Auric Maelstrom to jump to 16 before playing any Havoc. I assume the other players did a regular Maelstrom.

Anyway…everything was going great and then all of a sudden we got our butts kicked. Gunners, and I mean little scabs, are pretty dang brutal. That one little booger you didn’t kill, who is hiding in the shadows, is liable to mess your whole day up without the toughness grace period. Failing to clear a room properly seems to be punished pretty hard.

And the full-health (+++?) multiple boss spawns, especially with Captains, is something else…BoN clomping down a hallway blocking it off while a Captain knocks the whole party every which way. Great stuff.

So far, I’m really liking the different feel. It indeed feels very different. And I think that’s about the best thing I could hope for. The regular QP “Adventure” mode feels very arcadey to me at this point. I know exactly how many hits everything takes to kill; I know when I can stop paying attention to some mob because my DOT is going to kill him; teams can speed through rooms or split up a bit to gather resources. It’s loose and wild and a bit silly. But not in Havoc! The different effects on enemies varies the playing field a lot, it seems like you really have to pay attention to finishing things off, and when a single gunner can chunk your HP it pays to stick together.

I mean, this is basically Weave system from Vermintide 2, but worse in every possible way, which is kinda impressive.

You force me to play an auric maelstorm and then have to play on heresy difficulty?
And even if im the “host”, i have to play at least 4 missions to reach the same old damnation, but worse, because the mods are meaningless and way too easy.
The rest of my team is screwed and have to wait a week so their stats upgrade?

How the hell could this system get a green light from any kind quality control??
Or did anyone ever even tested this, like at all?

Weaves were at least fun once you run through the first few levels, especially after reaching cata2/3 levels, but this is a massive step backwards from that system in every possible way.

How could this be advertised as content for seasoned veterans?

How ? How did Havoc go through QA and tests and didn’t get immediately axed for complete rework ?

You somehow managed to mix the worse parts of the Weave from VT2 and Mythic+ from WoW… Honestly this is so out of touch it’s kinda artistic at this point

Genuinly after playing a few matches, I’ll go in on very quick sub 10 runs as client to get 2/3 cosmetics and maybe pull my own rank to 25 for the pants. But nothing about this mode makes me go “Wow I wanna play this.” The modifiers are nice but would be better of if we could choose what map and mod we wanna play. Instead you gamble on rolling the missions.

The funny thing is, if anyone with a bit of foresight would have looked at the plans for the system, they would have immediately found multiple issues, before any of it was even made.
As a few forum users did, as soon as the first information was released.

It is honestly ridiculous, that nobody at FS seems to go over the ideas, predicting how they would perform in practice.

Requirement of party finder? Immediately means a lower number of players being interested.
40 separate difficulties? Immediately clear, that it splits up the interested players to a massive degree.
Only the host of the mission gets immediate progress? Immediately clear, that players will think it is bugged. Also immediately clear, that people will hate it and that it will cause many issues. For example, it incentivizes players to not play the mode for the rest of the week, after climbing a few ranks with a group.
Also, you can just get taxied through one high difficulty mission and wait until the next week. And just like that, you got the same rank as someone who cleared their way through 30+ missions to get there the “normal” way.

The system has so many unnecessary components that simply make it worse, while lacking a few essential components that would make it better.
There are glaring issues that were apparently completely overlooked.
It is not looking good.
There should be so many checks to go through, from coming up with an idea, to actually producing the piece of content and then releasing it into the game. Yet all of those glaring issues were overlooked.

Tried any new weapons to boot?

Not yet! Didn’t have much time and wasn’t going to bring something brand new into a Havoc!

Did anybody manage to reach level 17?

At 20 right now. But party finder is blocking me from finding a group. Can’t find anyone despite resetting everything multiple tinmes.

there is a button called ‘‘clear all’’ if you do so i usually get games

how did you manage to increase your level though?

I used to, but now I get no one joining. Very annoying.

Post a havoc in party finder and complete it. Used to work fine. Now no one joins.

I am currently at level/rank 20, but I need to sleep now, so I will continue tomorrow.

The best way to do you Havoc weekly is to play as four knife Zealots (yes, you know what I mean) and speedrun/skip through the ranks.

Havoc must have had minimal testing done prior to its release because it’s severly undercooked.

the mission you play is the same of your assignment though? right?

my problem is not the difficulty, my problem is selecting my assignment

They need to bring XP progression. Like if you cleared Havoc rank, then doing the same rank gives 0 XP, but doing Havoc of higher ranks give more the higher you go. Like i don’t want to go and grind lower ranks just for being able to host, i already have 6 ranks gap.

We had time to get to 21 or 22. We hit a literal wall of gunners (trash and elite) during the first event Mercantile map and wiped few times. Other maps were far easier, but then 1 of the stealth zealots switched to a VoC vet.

I’m not a massive fan of the gunner changes, and lower toughness values as difficulty modifiers. The first event on the Mercantile map or Clandestium Gloriana with those modifiers are something special for sure.

Getting down to 20% HP, from 100% toughness and 100% HP in a half a second due to few gunners shooting at you turns the game into a cover shooter yet again. Only…there is no cover system.

I can see Havoc being too much about gaming the system on higher difficulties with really specific builds and team comps.

Of course, your problem is not the difficulty, because Havoc was not thoroughly tested and is undertuned and undercooked.

You have to play multiple games of snoozefest, uninteresting gameplay (which is why you play as Knife Zealots) before you can return to the difficulty level you were playing on prior to the update.

It’s so badly done that I’m not sure how it happened.
