Havoc AFK testing

Had a havoc where everyone left at the beginning.

Decided i would use the opportunity to test out enemy spawn rates.

The following needs confirmation but so far this is what i can identify:

  • every 15-20 meters you progress into unexplored territory, you spawn something (most often a special or two)

  • standing still for extended time (2-5 minutes) mostly leads to enemies not spawning
—> except one special (or two) which will spawn with a long delay (every 1-1,5 minutes)
—> an ambush wave very rarely spawns, consisting of 20-30 trash mobs, easily cleared

Tested on Torrent map on a havoc 22.

Putting this into practice means, in theory, you can control enemy spawns in even the hardest havoc missions. You can give yourself breathing room by just not moving forwards. This is of course assuming that spawn rates are uniform across havoc levels, which requires further testing to know for certain.

In many havoc games i have noticed that most people seem to be under the assumption that enemies are going to spawn no matter what they do.
Some people push fast and progress the map and escalate the intensity of the match by keeping spawning stuff.

Eventually the team cohesion deteriorates and everyone is just panic rushing forwards without much coordination…which just leads to more spawns…and eventually a wipe. Only exception are very individually skilled players. They seem to be able to keep a very high pace without the cohesion / coordination between them deteriorating.

So does anyone else have information on havoc spawn rates?

There is quite a bit good information from Kuli’s guide here: Steam Community :: Guide :: [1.10.x] Curios, DoTs, Stimms, Difficulty Mutators, Player Debuffs & Mechanics

Specifically the parts on Emperor’s Fading Light I & II have good info.

Thanks. That’s a lot of information…and very specific!

Specials on havoc will keep spawning, they max out at 16 on havoc 40. On regular auric they are 8. What you will have eventually stop spawning is hordes if you do not progress aside from trickle hordes that have a timer. Some zones on the map are “safe” pause zones, that do not even cause hordes to spawn, although how intentional those are, I do not know
