Havoc 2.0 was an *awful* idea

Heinous rituals complaints:

  • Rituals can start on floors above or below players. Making them basically inaccessible past the almost infinite amount of spawns

  • Rituals progress slowly until shot or approached, putting them at a high tick rate for completion. This is never explained and players have no patience or understanding for this mechanic

  • The ritual masters have WAY TOO MUCH HEALTH. Why do these undead in cloth have more hit-points than a mauler?

  • Rituals complete TOO FAST even when players are far away. We have more than just a ritual to deal with if you guys want to put montrous specials in the mission. There are four players at a given time.

  • More than one ritual can complete at the same time even when players are in the same relative area. Good luck fighting a boss and two demonhosts!

  • Rituals are put in the same places as multi-boss spawns. Yes fatshark , we can definitely prioritize 2 ad waves , 15 specials, 3 bosses including a captain or karnak twin copy, and a few crushers sprinkled in. OH! And don’t forget gunners! Don’t worry guys. They nerfed the gunners! They’re definitely nerfed now and are completely dodge-able when there are 100 of them on the screen, on a dark map, shooting you with nigh perfect accuracy behind cover.

I have just played more than 50 havoc 2.0 matches, I have won 5 of them . This game mode is an absolute chore to play and it’s a failure of a rework. Psykers are still completely required to use bubble shield for any chance at completion, and the game director on light level II is completely unbalanced and spawns bosses straight after the first drop down, and there isn’t nearly enough ammo (because of ammo drop nerfs) to go around.

Fatshark, a majority of your player base are console players on controller. How the hell do you expect these people to get dynamic swap headshots on 5 specialists, a dog, dodge a mutant and trapper net backwards, while killing three boss spawns?

You guys need to understand your demographic here. Or let PC players turn crossplay off for this level of intensity.

Also:

Why the hell do I keep getting havoc join requests from people you don’t even have auric storm survivor or any halfway decent stats? This game mode in its’ current state is completely inaccessible to even halfway decent players let alone the ones who are using level 410 weapons and trying to join the game mode. This needs to be locked behind auric achievements and having maxed out weapons.

I could absolutely go on. Please realize that I LOVE DARKTIDE. I EFFIN LOVE DARKTIDE SO MUCH. But lately you guys have made this game progressively less fun to play over this Havoc BS.

ASS achievement just leads to people disconnecting when they’re down.

However, I agree we need hard gatekeeping on difficulties. Weapon power being the very least.

I said this before: you should have 10 Malice completions before moving to Heritic, 10 to move to Damnation, etc

There’s still a chance people will get carried in 10 Damnation, 10 Malestrom, 10 Aurics, 10 Auric Maelstrom, etc. But at least they would know what they’re getting into.

Yeah this nonsense since Dec '24 has driven me out of the game. The lead dev needs to reevaluate the current course.

Scoreboard causes toxicity, however here is your game mode with no gatekeeping but deranking.

I lost my last Havoc match on Relay Station because a Reaper was mowing me down from an elevated position waaaay in the distance by some houses in the mid event (You know the ones).

Damn, if only our stubbers could be so accurate.

I think new players are the only ones fresh enough to even give Havoc a shot at this point. Hel, in the last group I played, an old-timer had skipped a year and at no point realized that Havoc mode was designed for super-sweats until I told them. They just, waltz right into a 30 unawares thinking it was some fun new game mode. We still had fun, mind you, but only for a short time.

Frankly, I’ll take anyone willing to play at this point. Not even folks on the Discord are willing to play Havoc mode anymore. Maybe if they fix (I.E. bypass completely) party finder, fix (I.E. remove completely) deranks, and we actually get a solid contingent of ā€œGood Enoughā€ players in the 20-30 range, at least on weekends, then we can look into shoring up the gate we’re keeping here.

even if you got smooth sailings until a fkkup close to the end, team disbands faster than roaches when you turn the lights on.

how are you supposed to warm up with randoms if theres one try in fear of demotion on top of the whole :poop: havoc brings along.

2 peeps thought it a good idea to split at 2 bosses spawned, tried to salvage by ogryn taunt and kite, worked as well until 2 ran for the next door…
mistakes happen but seem to be unforgiveable come havoc/3strikes.

cherry on top, was my last attempt at 30, with the last group that day that even attempted 30+ AND accepted oggy…

I know the fact they doubled down on Deranking instead of removing it completely had me immediately give up on havoc until they realize it’s actively killing the game mode and DO remove it.

I did a 7 this week just because I need 5 more chests and then I’m done with the penances. I’m SUPER happy I hard grinded it the week before this release as I don’t want to touch this shlop with a 40k foot pole anymore.

And this is coming from a guy who did 40 every single week until this release, who got True Survivor accidentally three times, and who up until now had been super enjoying this game mode for the challenge it provided.

But I don’t care about having to job interview every 40 minutes in this job market, I’m not sending in a resume just to get rejected without them even reading it because I forgot line item 4 and am playing on one of my alt characters so my true level isn’t above 500. Deranking makes everyone unable to even talk to people unless they are ā€˜the best’, and even if they are/display as such the fact they are even trying to do a 30-40 now more than likely means they aren’t good, as all the people capable of such have given up on the gamemode completely/ā€˜got their fill’ already and aren’t dealing with the system BS anymore.

It’s just, not good the whole way down, and the fact they are also balancing around it makes it deeply worrying that this game is going to become Destiny 2/Warframe and basically have you trip over everything that’s the ā€˜core content’ while ignoring anything that’s even close to ā€˜hard’ because there’s no reason to do it and it’s more of a chore than entertaining.

I just hope they can steer back the ship before it all falls apart, as the Ogryn rework has been some of the most fun I’ve had in Darktide to date. But the place that’s supposed to ā€˜test my limits’ is actively unplayable, while Auric you just walk through, so it’s just…what do? XD

did a hav30 yesterday, testing my build one final time to verify infos in my next build guide video.

team did well, i gave my all, one small mess up at the end when 2 guys split at the spawn of two bosses cost us the match.

did they retry… nooo oooh shiver me timbers one strike ā€œtHiS gRoUP sUCks asSā€ and ran for the hills.

how is one supposed to herd this group of random chickens when no second attempt is even feasible?

all my callouts were correct and followed, one more try was all it took, after that the team would have been set for the next hours :man_shrugging:

Part of why people disband after an attempt is just lack of grit and perseverance. Now part of it is also fear of demotion.

But to me part of it is that after 1 high level Havoc match I’m just mentally exhausted to the point I decided to play Mortis Trials just to wind down, but even there I did worse instead of finding it the cakewalk it normally is.

Havoc being that intense by itself is not an issue perse. I don’t see myself playing it all evening for fun, like I would Aurics. But tied to the demotion system it’s just damning.

My thing is , if its a 40 minutes grind for one mission. One rank is a garbage reward if im at level 7 and just played a level 30.

Earning black helmet is awful lmao .

to me its the opposite right now, granted some meds i need to take (cortison) have an equal result as the energy drinks i pop now and then.

since the doc gave me green light for caffeine as to ā€œenjoyā€ as much as possible free time activity/quality of life despite side effects, when the two mix (and i never took any meds prior so my receptors seem to soak em up) on ā€œgood daysā€
i’m in the zone like its 2001 lan quake tournament.

did a 40 hour session back then before i collapsed in my sleeping bag :laughing: good times.

anyways, once i’m ā€œfired upā€ i could play havoc all day, except the game wont let me under the circumstances i’m in.(randoms/odd hours)

so i remind myself in order to get 2 vids a day for my upload schedule, to ā€œfarmā€ auric maelstroms or HISTG cause even here the map pool had 3! times comms plex with different modifiers :man_facepalming:

now i’m hyped up as a racing horse on amphetamine but put in the bracket of retirement home inmates…
40k feeling at its finest ironically :rofl:

i think this deranking has become that ā€œbiggest pain in darktideā€ point of critique for me, now that crafting is fixed.
