Have you seen the Arbites skill tree? No tax points can Vet get some love please?

With the release of the Insanely scrumptious Arbites skill tree that’s 90%+ no tax points (as in skills that aren’t just small passives like 5% health) . It has made me realize that the Veteran skill tree is falling a bit behind in terms of synergy and massive tax points. For example say you Try making a build with the right sides Smoke grenade then if you want to go full support and bring Survivalist for Havoc you need to waste 6 tax points getting from one side then getting to the other. Then you have much less points for some of the best skills like ( 50% toughness damage reduction over 75% toughness and the 5% regenerative grenade chance/or finesse damage right side) it has become clear Vet tree has one of the worst synergizing Skill trees in darktide right now. Why do so many people opt out of keystones? because there’s way to much tax points and lack of optimization. My suggestion rework Vet tree like Oggy tree at least (not asking for a full on Arbites DLC tree) all fun no tax points. I’ll end with this the build I have with smoke/survivalist aura has about 12 tax points total, that’s nearly half points of just minuscule passives that don’t do much. We already get taxed in real life who wants to get taxed in their fantasy?

2 more major patches this year after arbites… here hoping Vet is one of em =)

At this rate, skill trees like those of the Psyker, Ogryn, and Arbites will likely become the standard. It’s highly likely that the Veteran and Zealot are currently undergoing skill tree reworks.

I sure hope so they stated Veterans were supposed to get something new last year in December when all the other three classes got new weapons but unfortunately all Vet is getting is a nerf (tho I understand the plasma nerf) sucks we get nerffed before at least a new weapon haha something?

Sure hope so it’s currently one of my most fun classes coming from a level 900+ Oggy.

Those are kinda needed for base and are very good if it was just 5% TDR/HP then it’d be a tax point the point I’m making is Arbites has literally only two possible “tax points” and those are extremely good slots Arbites has less than 10% tax points 28/30 are skills haha now look at Vet damn tax point nearly every other slot haha. specially if you try to get creative as i stated like a support build then you get 12+ tax points which in comparison is 40% nearly half tax points of borderline useless skills in comparison to extremely useful skills like more gameplay changing damage/support abilities

Not denying Psykers are strong, but their tree is a mess. They have the 2nd most tax nodes behind veteran iirc.

Yeah, despite their tree’s free flowing nature, their tax nodes + their ‘required’ nodes basically makes all Psyker builds look pretty much the same outside of a talent point or two. About the only thing that shifts between most builds are whether or not you take Mettle + Perfect Timing (are a crit build or not) and taking Malefic Momentum if you’re Assail because you have to instead of Aura. But beyond that the ‘core’ of the tree basically requires 22-25 node use at base right off the bat with the final remainder being auto selected for you based on what Keystone you chose, and you’re just like wow, I feel so ‘free’ in my build crafting, I’m so happy this time I get to click on an extra 5% toughness DR node just so I can grab Prescience, and that is the only change I made due to required talents/point tax to get to them locking me out of any other choices, I feel so creative!.

But, that being said they are still insanely strong so like, for sure Veteran and Zealot need to get touched/brought up to this ‘ultra free skill tree’ meta first, but I think the Psyker could very much use a ‘consolidation patch’ after that, especially in the likely event Psykinetic’s Aura is properly nerfed (verses just a percent taken off its CDR as a ‘warning sign’).

ogryn is so much more fun since the rework. and zealot is in dire need of a tree modeled after ogryn & arbites. actually, you can see that fatshark got much better at trees.

I think Veteran needs a skill tree revamp more than Zealot.

That’s just biased by the numbers zealot is easily the worst in tree structure.

As a Vet main i know Zealot it worst off in talent tree and options

A big chunk of very handy base toughness for 1 point? Yes please, and thank you!
That 25 goes way up in value with toughness damage resistance etc, and it’s 2 nodes so win.
More ranged shots eaten, less chip damage etc. etc.

Well yah it works (so would a straight line) but it could have actual variety given a better structure and more choices.

As long as this remains true I’m on team Vet revival.

Why we need them? U ALWAYS will take them. In ANY build. So why its not build in basic class stats?
