Have we actually ever received an answer on whether specials aren't supposed to make sounds anymore?

I can’t see anything in Bugs or Technical issues stating this is a known issue.

So is this supposed to be a part of the game now? Bursters not making sound until they are blowing up in your face. Hounds not making sound until the are already jumping at you. etc etc etc

It’s really not fun just dying to stuff with no real way of dealing with it. Since the game director just LOVES to spawn stuff right next to you with no warning, and the no sounds anymore on top, it’s just not a nice mechanic. Might as well have a random timer and you just die for no reason.

I’ve made a thread about the no sounds a while ago, but no indication whether this is supposed to happen or not. It’s getting super frustrating and making me not want to play anymore.

Can there be an official confirmation on whether this is supposed to be like this, or can someone point me to where they have answered this please.

Thanks.

I haven’t had this experience, only think I noticed is they are not so loud anymore. I’ve heard trappers, bombers etc…

A couple times now, I’ve come across Demonhosts with no aura or chanting. I know it’s happening to other people too because I’ve played with a group that have someone walk directly into one, because they claim to not have any of the visual or audio indicators appear for them.

I think this is a “client-side”(?) bug because in that instance, everyone else could see and hear it.

Missing audio cues for specials and elites - #2 This is as far we got. I asked for a comment, an explainer, update on what if anything is being done to fix these close to game breaking issues. The issue was “acknowledged”, but we have had NO comment on this at all.

VT2 had / has some of those issues also. I would imagine some of that stuff is engine related, as those issues also happen when literally nothing is happening in the game, so it is not our sound cards getting overwhelmed with amount of audio.

For now you can use accessibility mods like Spidey Sense, which VISUALISES audio of incoming specials the same way Battlefield games visualise the direction of incoming fire:

Thanks very much for pointing me to that mod. Hopefully this helps!

It’s a sound issue and definitely not intended design.

This game has a Sound Manager that not only chooses what, when and how long to play. It also limits sounds to avoid spamming / glitching / performance issues.

I have no definitive evidence, but I believe their latest adjustments to this causes all the silent specials.
It could also be another sound bug. Vermintide 2 famously had silent Eshin Assassins for months before it got fixed and some continue to have this bug, when using a certain sound quality for headphone settings.
