Has cross play handcuffed the PC?

I’m still looking for hope that somehow there’ll be a reason to reinstall, but I’m wondering if introducing cross play has put a throttle on the content of the game to allow for the console capabilities?

There’s threads for reduced horde sizes, low intensity and the patch introduced a new elite modifier. Is it possible the PC has been given the console release in the last patch?

This all suggests to me that the game is being reigned in so console can cope, in which case it’s reducing the possibility of installing even further.

What’s going on?

Depends on why did you unistall it. Probably not, no reason, wait till xbox release.

reduced horde sizes

Bug

I fear PC development halted to allow porting current state to Xbox.

Unlikely to be cross play, so they’ll probably nerf enemies for controller movement.

Would ideally be better to just have cross play and give controller player buffs to play alongside PC players to keep match making pool total rather than split. i.e. Aim assist, adding 180 quick turn button etc. Add mouse/keyboard native support like Warzone and Apex console versions even allow.

They did discuss this in VT2 and said that they had to make changes to enemy numbers, among other things, in order for the Xbox to be able to run the game. If you ever ran the game on an outdated cpu (or host cpu) you’ll know what it’s about.

I would assume the same goes for Darktide but I don’t know. If they are actially doing XBOX-PC crossplay I think OP’s concern/question is valid.

idk but whatever was done to make the cross-play happen, I get some type of server communication error everytime I launch the game and then it goes away, weird, game has some weird lag that is intermittent or seems to happen when you change your view or attack, idk

Yes - but that was also because games were hosted by a client peer-to-peer, so the CPU processing for everything fell onto the host player.

In theory with dedicated servers those heavier calculations are all being handled server side, which should make reduce load on consoles.

I think it’s pretty much all but confirmed that PC development has slowed to a crawl for Xbox. The smaller horde size was confirmed to be a bug and will be fixed though. The new xbox’s should have no problem playing this game so i wouldnt worry about them tuning it down for them. Then again this developer isnt known for being master optimisers lol

That has been a thing since launch, though.
To be honest, it’s a lot better this time around compared to VT2. We still got content and additions. But it’s pretty much secure that patches and content will pick up pace when the Xbox release is done and in-sync with the PC releases.
