Hello! So my story is I’ve been a PC gamer forever and lately I’ve ended up playing crossplay only games with old friends most of the time. Long story short we were all fired up about Darktide so I actually bought an Xbox last year so we could all play. It was going to be the Holiday Break activity… then that passed, then the New Years, then Easter, then… it just kept going. THEN we hoped it’d take us into Diablo 4, now that’s out.
I realize those with the privilege to experience the suffering dont want resources taken away from the PC version to work on a console port, and thats cool, I get that. But can we get a date? Like 2024? I mean something? Anything? I’d really like to play this even if its a broken mess, I sometimes like a broken mess (see: Paladins). It’s gotta be better than RedFall. Actually, can I just got a confirmation that an Xbox port is still even on the table? lol
Honestly I assume a lot of their time is going to the console release right now.
However, I think it would be much smarter for them to continue delaying it until a lot of these systemic issues are ironed out. Look at the crafting poll and how many people are upset with that.
People are upset with difficulty, balance, siloed resources, not being able to edit their characters after the fact, map selection, bots, etc. If they were to release it now to console it’s just more work to undo a lot of that and more negative reviews and bombing that could drive away future sales.
It would be better to change a lot of these pain points so console releases with positive reviews and a greater player base.
That said, if they aren’t planning on changing any of these system issues that people are bringing up, then it doesn’t really matter. Just release to console, make your money get ~50 positive reviews and that’s it.
That’s a good point. I was going to say windows to Xbox cant be a huge task, it’s basically the same thing. Why not release it so we can all test it, which is apparently what you’re all doing lol. But true, it could get a second chance at life if it comes out of the gate working well on console. I dont know how it works financially but since its on GamePass, they might not be in a hurry to launch it either. I dont know what kind of compensation they get from that.
The cross play would be most important element with Xbox release to keep match making pool wait times low, even if player count drops over the months.
Good to have mouse and keyboard native support just like COD Warzone has for console. The mouse whipping in this game 180 is non stop.
Then there is the pricing. They should know don’t price same as other AAA titles.
Shame the PS4/PS5 will only come later because of timed exclusive, probably few months. That could really bring the player count up.
I had real fun playing alongside PC/Xbox/PS players on Rainbow Six Extraction. The cross play match making and sessions were very stable talking to players from N America to Europe. So hope it will work out well for Darktide too.
I fear the XBox release date. Assuming the game remains in it’s current state (which is a safe bet at this time), imagine current DT releasing for a console… I’m not ready for such heavy memeing.
There will be fear this will impact PC development in terms of holding it back.
Or it could go opposite direction like Elite Dangerous they decided to continue it’s journey on PC but suddenly abandon console versions because they couldn’t handle or maybe not willing to handle development across muliple platforms any longer. Maybe console wasn’t selling enough to warrant more attention to it.
Unless they natively allowed keyboard and mouse. There will be memes about controller players trying to handle a horde from all directions.
Is cross play between Steam and Game Pass players still not implemented?
I wonder if they’ll be able to do cross play between PC, Xbox and later PS (later as timed exclusive) in that case. Get the feeling if they didn’t do between steam and game pass, then it might not happen for this.
There will never be crossplay between console version and pc version because when they make the game for console they fundamentally change it from the pc version. The xbox version will have different amount of spawns and possibly changed hp values like the console vermintide 2 version because they cant spawn as many enemies.
Gamepass version on pc can eventually get crossplay though.
That’s a shame. The last cross play PvE Coop game I played was Rainbow Six Extraction. Yea I know people bashed it because it lacked content. But the PC/Gamepass/Xbox/PS cross play was so stable and worked really well.
I just cant get over how people are discussing crossplay when I literally bought an XBOX just to avoid all that and play with my friends. Funny, didnt have “Not releasing the XBOX version half a year later” on my release bingo card lol.
This reminds me of a job I was in once, I had a bad situation and fought it like crazy. Eventually my wife made a great point, “do you really want to win and keep working with those people?”, I didnt. And that’s where I think im at with this. If half a year later the PC version is a debacle, the console version doesnt exist, and theres nothing but total silence on the issue. I can be fairly certain im not going to want it when it gets here.
Damn, oh well just going hit D4 a little harder I guess. Good luck on the next game.
