What if all of the modifiers from previous events were let into general games? Some of them could just be a chance encounter, like one of the Nurgle shrines that heals enemies and summons a boss could just spawn at any time. Maybe you get some bonus rewards for taking on such side-quests. Maybe even occasional boons, like the piles of stims?
Or, a lot of them could be be added to the pool of potential modifiers for Maelstrom games! Imagine if we got some that didn’t just have Pox hound waves! It’s getting, I dunno, a little monotonous? If we could get some kind of comment from a community manager on this, that’d be great.
More importantly, I would like the entire mission board, including Havoc, to be streamlined by removing unnecessary difficulty levels and making it simple, easy to understand, and accessible for everyone to join.
Havoc absolutely does not need 40 tiers of difficulty. If a one-button matchmaking system were implemented, many more players would be motivated to play it, and the overall quality of life would improve significantly.
I genuinely don’t understand why most games can cover their entire player base with roughly five difficulty levels, while Darktide has as many as 46 different difficulties.
Those are meant to teach you a fundamental lesson in co-op games - when you hear the wave spawn, stick together. People still aren’t getting the message 3.5 years on, so the mod should stay imo.
Dog waves wouldn’t be boring if there were other modifiers. It feels almost like it’s the only real modifier that’s ever available. It’s boring because it’s all we’re given.
If they #RELEASETHEMODIFIERS then dogs may have been a fun option but FS have made it so they will never ever be fun ever again.
What I don’t understand is…they make an event for a few weeks…why not make it a season? And keep it active until the next different modifier?
Of course id rather we were given all of them in rotation but the chance of FS giving us that much agency is zero, so why don’t they simply make it a season and rotate from 1 modifier to another?
problem with each individual modifier is just that we have like 3 of them total so of course they all eventually feel obnoxious and overdone
whenever there’s an event they make new mechanics then slamdunk them into the trashcan right after
game is robbed of opportunities to grow because of this actual dogshitt live service design
This has been suggested so many times since havoc dropped that FS has almost certainly seen it and decided “Well that’s too good of an idea, we can’t start implementing good player ideas now.”
i’m gonna let out some debased gossip but i have seen people say that the current game design lead of darktide is also the person who came up with weaves in vt2. it kind of puts some of these things into perspective when it comes to gamemode decisions and such
