Grim Protocols - New Weapons - Dev Blog

I hope that the team design the Relic Blade carefully to avoid making it end up “unusable” without the activation state as the hyperbole assessments often go. Hopefully, activation will only allows you to hit the next breakpoint in most cases rather than just halves the amount of hits required for anything.

Compared to Volley Guns they absolutely do lean more into armour penetration. Of course, there are exceptions between variants of each.

Hot-shot Lasgun is the Infantry Lasgun to the Volley Gun’s Recon Lasgun, essentially.

Hehehe.

But yes, that sounds inline with logic and reasoning. At least if I was putting this in a game with varying penetration values.

Alright…

Hotshot Lasguns are basically a lasgun with a higher armor penetration value than a normal lasgun (AP3 in 7th edition, -2 save mod in later editions). Infantry standard “rapid fire” files.

Hotshot Vollyguns are basically the same attack profile, but they shoot more rapidly (using salvo rules 7th ed and just more attacks in later editions).

As low strength but high AP weapons, both of them are suited for engaged more heavily armored infantry (ie units wearing carapace or power armored). But their low strength makes them pretty weak against vehicles.

TLDR, anti-ELITE infantry and the vollygun version shoots more.

Ogryn twin linked stubbers shoot really slow for 2 MGs, sucks that we’re just getting some weird rifle should be. And a flashlight for the 5% of the time you see Lights Out instead of a heavy attack…I am already leery.

And I dunno if the heat mechanic would be an improvement over the annoyance of activating a one handed sword, seems like it could easily be just as limiting. I can see the blessing tax in the form of enhanced cooling in some way a mile way already…

The force sword looks cool though, shooting sword beams like the legend of Zelda.

Yeah, even in Dark Heresy rules the Hotshot weapons HAD pen, standard lasguns didn’t.

Yawn. Get new material

So freaking cool…the effort and passion is so evident and so appreciated! Nothing compares to Tide combat, and it’s because of this level of care and talent. <3

I am super pumped for an accurate Ogryn weapon. Knockback is fun, but it’s the only weapon I vibe with on the Ogryn. Hoping the new stubbers get me playing the big man more!

Broadly speaking Fatshark seems to only make weapons available to the Vet if they’re something one can find in a basic tabletop guard Infantry Squad. Power Swords, Bolters, and Plasma Guns all fit that bill.

Hotshots/Hellguns are a Stormtrooper (or equivalent Grenadier/Kasrkin/etc) piece of kit, and much like FS doesn’t want to go full Sororitas for the Zealot, the same seems to hold true for the Vet.

If they were going to implement either, a Hotshot Lasgun and a Volley gun should both be anti-armor weapons, the Volleygun being longer-ranged and higher RoF, and both something between a Bolter and Plasma in terms of penetrating armor but less raw damage per hit.

that’s disappointing that the Ogryn is only getting 2 new ranged weapons. nothing in this post to address concerns that the Krourk Mk IIa Heavy Stubber is not going to be a useless piece of junk like the other version.

Materiel.

Cool weapons, neat… But personally i expect for ogryns some more interesting weapons and not cut off of already existing.
Multi-laser, multi-melta, heavy bolter, heavy plasma, rocket launcher, auto-cannons (there is a lot of types of them).
And as for melee: greater variants of already existing, scythe, power fist(s) or other type of fist (and/or grab) weapons, let my boy beat heresy out of demons with his own fists, please!!!

The Dreg Gunners use Heavy Stubbers like the actual 40k model cultists have. The only difference is the models’ Heavy Stubbers are based on the M2 Browning (AFAIK)

My son. The day you were born, the very forests of Lordaeron whispered the name

I would love to see a Hotshot Lasgun as some point. That and a real Kasrkin outfit to go with it.
However I doubt that we’ll see a Hotshot anytime soon. Not that it wouldn’t fit in or anything like that, but more due to how the Hotshot guns comes with a backpack and energy supply cables. Meaning that it would effect back cosmetics and how to handle the cables when using a Melee weapon.
If we’re gonna get a Hotshot I bet it’s gonna be like the Sniper Hotshot that we see for the TT Kasrkin figures since that one doesn’t come with the cables to supply the weapon with power.
I’d prefer the “standard” Hotshots with backpack + cables. But looking from the perspective of the easiest way to implement, the version without would be the obvious choice.

Agree with your logic. Which ones are these with the expanded mags?

Yawn, add features you promised on launch

Those are hot shot carbines. They have the expanded battery “magazine” so they don’t have the clunky back pack connection. This is the one I see being most likely to be added (it still won’t be) because it doesn’t take a cosmetic back pack slot. The pistol is a hotshot laspistol with the same reasoning.

It has lower range than a normal hotshot las but besides that is the same.

None of those exist for Ogryn.

As for those 2. There isn’t a Power Fist per se, the Augmentine Fist in Necromunda is an augment (so wouldn’t work 1 to 1), and there are Mace Fists, heavy armoured and spiked gauntlets (Shield of humanity)
