Grim is so annoying

I never had a problem with grims in V2 because the curse does not continue to eat up your life, but the grim system in DT is so freakin annoying. In V2, I used to only pick them up in legend to farm reds but that was it and everybody knows. Nobody pick up grims or any books in Cata.

In DT, however, there always gotta be that one guy who has grim contract and come to Auric to farm. It is always the guy who dies first. I don’t build defense (HP, wounds, curse resist, or whatever) so when someone pick up grim in Auric, it’s so damn annoying.

Ask them to drop it?

Hi. This you?
Darktide_sO7QpItpUs

You didn’t say anything for >70% of the mission. You played along while we were doing fine, with very little downs besides. No one had died (until the very end of the mission, which we completed).

If you had said something polite I would have burned the book. But you didn’t. It’s almost prophetic that I came here with the intention of starting a poll about animosity toward grimoire missions just to see you make this thread.

Of course we were doing fine. My point is it is annoying. It’s a pug and other ppl may not have the same contracts as you. Why do I have to say something during a mission? Even if you drop it, 20% of my HP will be gone. I have experienced this so many times that it’s annoying to type.

All I can suggest is just leave the mission. There’s nothing keeping you there. You aren’t the only person that dislikes grimoires but what you did was totally uncalled for.

You are right that the reward should be greater for grimoires given how punishing they are. I don’t have the contract either. I just like playing along with what I’m given in Quickplay.

Exactly what I did. I bet the other guy left for the same reason since he doesn’t build any extra wounds. Without HP/wounds like your Ogryn, it eats up my first wound fairy quick and I have to play with a grey screen for the rest of the mission. Usually I just left but it had happened so many times that I wanted to say something before I leave.

I don’t much like the mechanic in Vermintide either, but if someone picks it up on Auric 5, not much else to do but try to play the mission. Hate the game, not the player. The game gives players the opportunity to make the run harder without the consent of the team. That’s not cool.

He did not. I think we went through about 2 psykers in your slot. One of them left after head popping and the other stuck around until we finished.

I pick up grims on other Operatives too. It’s just a choice that some like and some don’t.

I think the problem is that you don’t consider them worth it, and I think most people share that opinion. Even I do. But I like the added risk-reward. And if I didn’t want to risk my teammates carrying grim, I just quit and find another mission.

I said what I said because of frustration. Not specifically to him otherwise I would’ve included the screenshot. I know it is because of the design. I just wish they make it so that only the person holding grims get the curse. I remember back in legend in V2, ppl would type “grim?” before they pick it up.

I meant the first guy who left before me. A vet named Kmil or something.

Easy for you to say “find another mission.” I already invested 5-10 minutes into it.

If you have a problem with that - don’t quickplay. It is one of the reasons I don’t quickplay either. If it’s a missions with grims it’s fair game to pick them up - because some people do have the corresponding contracts.

I hate the grim mechanic - thus I exchange the contracts and avoid the missions. Other people enjoy the extra challenge - they should be free to do it.

The only real issue with grimoires is that the reward is still pretty bad. 2/2 grims make missions a lot harder, yet the reward is only marginally better than for 3/3 scripts.

I used to do that but quick play is the fastest way to get a game.

I don’t really mind grims too much because of how use I am to playing with them in V2.
That being said, it’s an awful side quest, and I hate how in V2 you sacrifice the ability to carry a potion just to lose HP. In Darktide, I have to say, someone doing a Grim challenge on Auric, that’s just brutal.
I can’t say I blame you for being frustrated there, really should only do grims on normal missions.
