I was playing a game when one of my teammates got downed. Someone left the game, and when another player took his place we received a kick attempt by the downed player, presumably attempting to open a slot for a friend. I declined it, and unlike any decent person who would just leave the game or request in chat for reasons for the kick, he subsequently bombarded us every millisecond with kick requests, blocking our screen with the kick UI and guaranteeing our demise. We couldn’t even launch a counter kick because he kept interrupting our menus. On the defeat screen, he taunted us, in chinese, “you wanna play games with me?”.
As much as I wish we could penalize players like this, I’m doubtful reporting the character name would be of any use, especially on a co-op game. (And even if I did, social menu being inconsistent doesn’t show last played users anyway, didn’t quite catch his steam profile on the end screen either)
TL;DR, Remove the game pausing UI for kicking players. Even vermintide had the sensibility to bind it to a in game prompt. Bonus QoL if socials are fixed and we can see past game records.
Yeah, the system is horrible. Even when used correctly. I was in the middle of fighting off a horde full of elites when a kick vote showed up completely freezing my character. Sure he was blocking but I was too dazed to figure out what was going on. I voted no because I didn’t even have time to reflect what I was voting on. I had to get back into the game before my block would break.
The guy in question did deserve a kick though… but oh well.
?
I thought kick system uses overlay system with hotkeys such as f1 for yes and f2 for no in the keyboard? It did not interrupt your action in any way.
Do you use controller or something?
I have only had this happen to me once… and no, I would never use a controller for an FPS .
Maybe it’s been changed since, but last (and the only time) it happened to me my character blocked and I could not control him until I had decided on wether or not to kick this guy.
