Global goals and Some other Feedback

Hey Fatshark and Community,

I want to share my thoughts on my ideas for Darktide.

I enjoy the game and believe it to be the pinnacle for PVE coop games a final stage of L4D evolution. With the itemization overhaul the game is finished and in the best state ever. And I am most grateful to Fatshark for creating this masterpiece.

That being said I think some major aspects are missing like long-term goals for the players and community as whole.
The best example is the Helldivers 2 Galactic map that gives you major orders and what planets to conquer.

Global goals:
There should be a war for Tertium progress map.
EG.: Heretics seized the smelter (and shut it down) with its latest shipment of armor = all poxes have flak armor now like the event with The Moebian 21st event.
Unique Clear (lest say 300 times) of the Map Smelter Complex HL-17-36 will remove the modifier globally.

Stuff like that gives us the players a bit more meaning in playing the game.

Another eg could be that Heretics seized sector XXX and because of that more mutants are on the battlefield until its retaken X times, this modifier applies globally.

Map modifiers:
I am okay with most of them but some are really not fun like Blackout, Ventilation purge, Pox Gas. All these have in common that you can’t see ranged enemies but they mostly see you and can really quickly take down the whole squad.
You should be able to choose which modifier on which map you can run

Suggestion
New modifiers:
Gunfight - only ranged weapons only ranged enemies.
Brawl - only melee weapons only melee enemies.

I think we are missing these 2 modifiers. And something like Blackout + Brawl would be much better than normal Blackout.

Yes, the ammo should be split per weapon as Gunfight would require you to have 2 ranged weapons, and based on the one that’s equipped you get ammo for it.

UI feedback:
UI should be fully customizable where you want your health and ammo show etc. would be great also having the basic stuff mods add like how much ammo did I just picked up and digit cooldown on ability would be great.

I think your right some sort of progression in the story is needed. Some new levels as the struggle moves to new parts of the planet / hive maybe even out into the wider system too.

I’ve got a feeling we will be visiting the second hive city we hear about in the narrative now and then at some point. Maybe that city is a lot more far gone and there are incursions from the warp ./shrug who knows :slight_smile:

From recollection; someone once posted about 40k lore in that it was full of mini-dictators, all waging their own private wars for no real purpose or gain. I’m not sure we’re likely to see any real progress on the planet from a ship of low trained, low resourced rejects.

That said - I do agree - it would be nice to have a more ā€˜living’ map to indicate that at least some strategy is being played out by both sides.

Show me another game, outside of HD2 that has long term goals for players. The genre is meant to be a ā€œone and doneā€. You can hop on with friends and just play. So I wouldn’t say this aspect is missing, it’s not a staple of coop games.
