Give extra rewards for Cataclysm

Give players a reason to play Cataclysm besides some achievements. My idea is either a guaranteed emp vault or two vaults with regular rolls with grim and tomes added into the equation for higher quality.

Nope! Cataclysm has always been the difficulty for folk who only seek the challenge.

How about no, play it for the challenge like everyone else does.

No. Don’t ask for extra rewards for Cataclysm, it’s been discussed a lot of times.

Also people don’t generally pick grimoires in Cataclysm.

A lot of suggestions for CATA will fall by the wayside as it’s the difficulty behind a paywall - extra rewards could be considered PTW and I think this is something FS are entirely against and long may it reign.

Absolutely not. The reward is the increased challenge.

Maybe 1 red dust as a reward. I’m fine with it.

Given how rare red dust is this reward is too generous for a single cata mission. It’s equivalent of about 6-8 emperor vaults. maybe even 10.

Some rough math:

Each Emperor’s Vault gives 3 rolls at an 8% red chance, so the expected reds per vault are 3 × 0.08 = 0.24. That means about 4.2 vaults yield 1 red dust on average (since 1 red = 1 dust). The claim of “6–8, maybe 10 vaults” per red dust therefore undervalues vaults. The real rate is closer to 4 vaults per dust, making the reward not overly generous.

Of course, this is ignoring the possibility you get an item you want to keep from the Vault. So yeah, 1 red dust, not quite that extreme, but it is a big reward.

Lord no

*with 3 tomes and 2 grims, 1 red dust should be guaranteed imo.

There should be a purpose to collect tomes on Cata. I like them for the difficulty increase but there is no incentive. All these people who talk about extra challenge and most of them refuse to pick books there. Like c’mon where is the fun then? Cata without grims is way easier than Legend with grims. It’s a fact.

I wouldn’t say that; unless, you’re going no curse resist, which is how I do legend because I hate making builds with curse resist.

I feel like this would be a bit much.

No

People generally don’t collects books and grims on cata and don’t like it when people pick up grims in public lobbies

We shouldn’t encourage people to pick grims, and flood the only difficulty where veteran players can play without caring about chests, with people who farm reds there

Yeah, I hate the grim/tome farming. I just want to play the game with normal health and a build that doesn’t have curse resist just because of books.

I preferred the chaos wastes back when I was farming vaults just because it didn’t matter what equipment you entered with, and you can get vaults without collecting books. Maybe a bit harder, but much more satisfying to return to campaign mode and open 100+ CW vaults and get all the reds I need, then hop into Cata with capable players.

At this point, I do still hop into Legend games with no curse resist just because the player base has shrunk and there’s not always a game in CW or Cata Campaign mode. And I find Legend with books and no curse resist is more challenging, but not in a fun way, the fun comes simply from helping carry a team through to get their goodies.

I dunno, but if there is no incentive to play Cata then few people will play Cata.

Pretty sure you got it backwards

Are you even playing cata? Because you sound like you don’t understand why people like it in the first place. I presume you’re just new to this difficulty and you might even be one of those who collect the grims and don’t understand why some people get angry at you

The incentive to play Cataclysm is increased difficulty. Also it’s kind of comfortable difficulty for those who don’t want to collect the books. Don’t want books = play cata

As Ensrick mentioned, if you want to farm, better farm Chaos Wastes

Nobody gets angry at me because I host most of my games, and yes I do sometimes collect books there because I still need good loot for build variety. Cata without grims is easier than Legend with grims for someone like me who always play with randoms. I tell them in advance that I’m gonna pick books btw. It’s more challeging that way I like it. But I feel it dumb that there is no incentives.

On V1 Cata you had more chances to get a red.

Red dust needs to be a daily log in reward at this point so the game isn’t a giga grind for new players.

It was a grind that took me roughly 1’000 hours to get at least 1 of every red item. Now it’s probably about 500 since they effectively doubled the drop rates if I’m not mistaken, and the CW weekly on Legend is often easier than a regular legend run and gives a red dust 1x per week.

I think Darktide is now a better model of progression now that they fixed the crafting system not to be a complete and utter slog. You naturally gain mastery points you can use to access upgrades by using the weapon you want to upgrade. It’s less RNG, and there’s a distinct “do X and get X reward”. It probably takes about 1,000 hours to get max tier stuff for every career, but it doesn’t feel like a slog. I get exactly the upgrades I want by using the weapon I choose.
