General grievenses with the state of the game

There is several issues i want to discuss or see the answer why is it build this way.

This post probably will come off like it full of resentment and frustration and i will say completly honestly - it is. Still, im here to say it out loud, i did buy the game, i should have some decency delegated to me to see the response and just maybe have a chance to see that all of it will be gone. Or maybe not, some of the stuff i have problem with is so confusing that im not sure its a mistake.

English is not my first, so im sorry for anything that can be frustrating with this message.

Why is there is possibility to connect to in-game store to buy micro, when connection to Mourningstar is coinflip? Why is the core part of the game and means to to play the game is overlooked while transaction store is always aviliable.

I like many others have expirienced problems with connections, and as you can see (Reddit - Dive into anything) people found some very funny solutions to mitigate connection issues. Solution that depends on external source of income for the company, not the core expirience that player is buying, its to say the least very ironic.

Why we dont have the ability to kick players on Mourningstar?

With addition of Havoc and you very well aware of this issue, but still, after a month we dont see any solutions. If studio for any reason dont want to add ability for players to get rid of those they dont want to play with, explain to me why.

I did this several times already. But what do you think feels worse to just get kicked after the game because you were not good, or outright asked by people to leave. For me even typing “Can you please leave” is already kinda gross, its even more gross when people refuse and you need to just bite the bullet and restart the party all together.

Cosmetics in the game is just not good, we all know it.

Personally im kind of glad that studio seems to overlook it, but i have friends who love to buy and support the company, to see what they are paying for sometimes is just painful.

Havoc reset system, one week wait, all of it just very very bad.

My question is why it designed this way? Is there some sort of genius we all missing? Why is this so complex and frustrating when it should be straight forward? Its 40 ranks and you update the state of it as soon as everybody finishes the game. Host updates this way, systems knows that the highest completed this week was this rank, people can see it on the Havoc party screen, but its not updated for anybody else exept for host. Just why?

I explaind this system to other people who i know who work in game dev on different projects, first of all nobody believed me that it works this way and than, lets say criticism was very inpolite.

What up with net on the Trapper? Why it goes trough the enemies?

There is very well designed system to use horde as sort of meat shield. You can clutch by using horde to your advantage, snipers can kill other enemies, and so on. How exactly this counter intuitive stuff that trapper is doing land itself in the system. Im getting that it is a design decision and not a bug, so question is why?

Yea, trappers and dogs flying through a 200 tonne meat-sea or enemies that blocks your movement entirely, is the bane of my existence in DT.

‘catching’ you in the middle of an insane moshpit battle for your life is the antithesis of fun. It feels like you’ve been cheated…and that’s because you have been cheated, by a cheating enemy.

Neither of them have any business being inside dense battles. They just need to stay away from certain densities.

People say that it would trivialise them but I strongly disagree. They’re intended to catch you off guard or stop you straying too far from the team. They’re job isn’t to cheat you out of the game.

A suggestion to counter the feared trivialisation of them avoiding densities would be to lose their arrival sound cue entirely and perhaps just have a slightly louder attack sound cue. This would make them more challenging but in a MUCH fairer (and more fun) way. You’d be rewarded for quick reflexes by avoiding their attack. There is no such chance or reward through a dense horde.

This just made me laugh. The real reason why something should be done about the mtx shop is not because of the predatory practices targeting people with poor impulse control, but because of the innocent bystanders who need to witness those horrific acts.

what do you mean kicking players on the mourningstar?

trapper nets going through several bulwarks that block your view is a known problem. on the other hand, trappers would be useless otherwise. you have to avoid getting blocked in the first place, or quickly snipe the trapper.

The net needs go have a f-ing hitbox that can be blocked by bodies. I can’t count how many times I’ve been netted while ungulfed in a sea of poxwalkers.
The other day i did a test and hid my character behind a post, and the trapper was able to shoot through, like if it had a vorpal net.
This is nonsense and it ruins so many games but I doubt they will ever address it because FS doesnt seem to even play their game!

Strongly disagree. It’s giving them licence to ignore the issue.

Having a net burst through a pack of 10 crushers and a sea of enemies isn’t something that can be “avoided” whatsoever. Maybe in Malice but not in higher difficulties with proper enemy density.

See my suggestion above. There will be loads of ways to avoid ‘trivialising’ them. Their behaviour can be altered in different ways but having them cheat doesn’t give the game fair challenge. It just stops the show without any warning.

i know, it’s not like i haven’t been trapped through a bunch of bulwarks myself.
another solution would be to have the net go through a limited hit mass, and not those view-blocking big enemies.
and if fatshark fixed their sound engine so trappers don’t become silent because the engine must play some zombie groans first we would have much less complaints about “unfair” enemies.

Since Havoc was added to the game you can create party with the party finder. I have 2 friends i play with, we are looking for 4th most of the time. Sometimes they are bad, there should be ability to kick players.
I know that it easy to reset party and all this crap, but i will not accept this inconvinience without proper “why”. Its basic stuff that should be present.

To the Trapper issue, you right that being in the bad position is on the player. But trapper nets not having hitboxes just feels wrong, given that i mentionted that every other range attack can be blocked by enemies. If this how it should work, if this is intented, ok. Do i still want it to be change - yes.

Im personally willing to take the abstaction of this net, but im sure there is a better way to show it. I didnt play Vermintide that much, but Hook Rat feels like a better versions of DT trapper.

Did they ever answer to any of the issues you bring up in the book of grudges? Is this forum is even used by the devs to have communication?

This argument is only relevant under normal circumstances and is invalid, imo, when the player is in a mosh pit.

Sometimes a moshpit happens in a tight space and in those times it’s usually up to Ogryn to do his best to try and face it off. That’s his job. It’s a challenge all unto itself and having a netter trap you through it all is so damn unnecessary and unfun.

If you can’t move for enemies then what’s the point in a netter or dog.

Avoiding hordes (the most fun bit of the game) simply to avoid a total BS lazy cheese mechanic that means instant and unannounced death - is not something we should be fighting for.

As I suggested above, how about they avoid a certain density but they no longer have arrival sound cues. I think that would be a great trade-off and you’d have to be very alert all the time. They would still have the attack sound cue to allow for actual skill based avoidance.

In the beginning? Not really. Now? Mm…more than before at least.

Strawhat is trying her best despite whoever it is at the management level that has been making it difficult.

Not sure if you’re on PC or not but you can fix this with mods… by never connecting to it!

According to Strawhat, a version of the Book is a dev document, and they has fixed several issues that were on it (largely long-lasting bugs).

The devs do not directly communicate, but Strawhat has been the best CM so far.

my only gripe is when me , as an Ogryn, has the only range kit out of the 3 randoms to take down the snipers.

Pretty much agree with all of these, the trapper one so heavily I STILL have a negative review on steam (despite how much I love this game) addressing specifically it because of how bad it is. And I modded the game to the warp and back so that I no longer have to deal with it, but I know it’s still there, and I know if the mods ever stop being supported I have to go back to it, and I do not want this. If I can’t see the buggers the moment they spawn so I know to get out of the wave before they get to me, then they best not be able to shoot me through it, simple. Why can the netters do this but the literal gunners can not without at least mowing down everything in the way first, just, why.

Everything else I do agree with as well though, though it’s more system related, so I have no direct pain points beyond ‘yeah I hate that that’s there’. Hell Cosmetics would be better if they just let you see all the choices that where there so you could pick the actually good looking ones, but nope, just the last three weeks, have fun. But as has been stated, this has all been complained about for a while now, we can just hope that this gets touched up at some point in the future! (and keep complaining until it does to show that it’s a ‘community wide’ annoyance not just single people ‘whining’)

As for the Rasputin thing, probably a Russia related problem, ‘can’t glorify the country literally doing war in the modern age for no reason’ sort of stuff. Even if the game’s all about it, best not promote it outside of fantasy, lest we all fall to the perils of the warp irl and forgo the Emperors true vision for humanity.

Seeing people not realize how trappers would immediately be useless if their net was blocked by enemies is wild.

The closest to a reasonable suggestion for them is the net going through a limited amount of hit mass. Alternatively the net could break after a certain amount of damage is taken by the netted player. (Not necessarily saying I want to see this, just an option) Or they could actually fix them having aimbot up until the arbitrary “You must dodge here” point but :person_shrugging:

My biggest annoyance with the trappers is their nets going through walls and their ability to 360 no scope you no matter what. They should not be able to 180 you once they’ve planted and started charging their net. It leans into the “Dodging is the only way to ‘really’ dodge” thing and it’s pretty silly.
