Agrees a bit. Weaves failed. For various reasons, competitive leaderboard that doesn’t seem to be a valid target for this coop game, which mean static weaves (which is a good idea in a competitive environment) was a bad one in this specific game.

Competitive did try to focus on a player niche that is unfortunately not there overall.

It’s more the fact that wanting competitive “rankings” (not versus) in this game was not a great read. (Left 4 Dead have versus mode, do count completion speed time, but don’t have any leaderboard, nor it have ranking, because it’s not really needed)

Disagree. And still disagree now. Stagger mechanic is not the cause of the rebalance/unbalance. There were a freakin’ lot of rebalance all at the same time. Stagger did open successfully another gameplay.
In the same balance patch, we also saw a very good talent remake overall.
Balance still needs a lot of work, but again, compared to before, the distinct gameplay of career/weapons is in a better place.

Yep and totally agree. As I already said, don’t try to make Vermintide 2 the same as Vermintide 1 which seems to be the intent (several tries to remove that mechanic, even during the beta, and it’s still not successful). V2 was successful because this is not a gameplay of survival by attrition (lack of life, not much medikits, etc) but a survival game by situation (3 special at the same time as a patrol, mistakes, etc). And this is okay like this. Do not add it back.

I can understand this even if I would have not did that. I think it’s a mistake to prevent players that are not ready for difficulties to try them by “removing” one of the core “loot” aspect of the game (which is one of the main element of V2) from this difficulty.

Now, what we probably need from @Fatshark_Hedge is probably to adress a bit more the “intent” behind the design process in their patchnotes/QA/othes dev blogs posts.
So we can know why they’re trying to do this. It happened a bit, but I think it’s could be great to have more notes about “why” the temp hp is an issue, or “why” weaves were designed as a competitive mode rather than only an end game mode.

I could even skip the leaderboard thing , that was complete failure also, and they did not even bother fixing it after I repeatedly pointed out the huge hole that fake positions are, in addition to cheater.

Core issue is the static, and it’s not even static it’s super bad static thing, since it’s kinda semi static in very obnoxious way, where for some reason if you go at different pace you can get different spawns, sometimes you get one more specials, sometimes some specials get stuck I guess and don’t come and so on.

If they did the proper random weaves, idealy the triple chunk thing (really think that would be exciting) then who cares about boards, if they still added them. Nobody… if the random weaves were fun and there were boards on top of that.

In this situations weaves suck hard and boards are completely pointless because of the already mentioned fake positions and cheaters.

It sure is main problem, if there was no stagger and no pointless 5 levels that again… I told em, is dumb move that solves nothing and also brings nothing to the game… then there would still be the 1.6 balance with tweaked shields and maybe few other underperformers and it would be fine. Maybe they could try working on stagger etc when everything else is fixed and sorted out, but on some beta branch and if feedback sucked, then they would just stop it.

What gameplay are you talking about, yea you get few more options now, like I want more ranged power to reach some breakpoint… or I wont more dmg on first hit, rest is kinda who cares. Well pff… that sure wasn’t worth screwing the balance for and alienating so many players. And as I said, they had to nerf it super hard after the 100% expected horrific initial feedback, so at this point it’s like whatever who cares.

Plus if I fire up few QP’s and quiz players, they will have no clue how it works. So it’s still just mess.

Like I get the idea, but it should not be done this way and with other huge changes and without proper testing.

I was never complaining about talent remake in general, that indeed needed refresh and it moved in good direction mostly. (many still kinda bugged or pointless but… ye good direction, actively changing playstyle)

But that is not what we’re talking about, that has nothing to do with stagger, you could have all the talent changes with previous non-stagger relatively balanced (after year and half of work) system.

Yea, I would even be fine if they were like “man, there is too much of temp HP, we’re going to try nerfing it a bit, lets start with 25% nerf across the board”… but no, they just … like just fu*ked it up in single patch, kinda on a whim. And it’s not fixed after months. That is absurd.

Again my hobby horse… FK, someone from FS go play Cata with FK and no damn shield, just take real weapon, exec, halberd or something and good luck doing anything, you will get so destroyed… since it’s functionally no-temp-hp-mutator kinda situation. Only way that one gets some temp is just pushing like idiot when you don’t need to, because that has relatively strong stagger and can generate some low amount of temp.

But actually playing the game properly, the temp is no use whatsoever there, no matte what one picks.

And then I can take Shade with temp on kill and it’s like no biggie  It’s kinda nerfed but still 100x better then on FK.

I also understand the reasoning too… just saying, it’s wrong, it’s bad decision. For reasons I explain in page long posts at least 10 times already.

I don’t want to be pessimistic all the time, but that is prolly not happening like what do you expect to hear ? If they would be honest.

The static weaves, uhm… yea… um… yea very bad idea… mmhmmm… also kinda rushed with no time for any proper testing whatsoever, well… was a screw up yea. Sorry.

I did watch the streams etc. and I remember Martin talking about the design of them, and I did tell him that this going to be really bad… they just didn’t listen.

He was talking about rifts (D3), not understanding that rifts were something different in very different game (played those a lot …) and those were not even random on top of all that. It made no sense to me.

And their biggest fear was “weave fishinglol, I thought that’s absurd right the second I heard it.

Like this community is full of uber competitive ppl who want to run something 1000 times and just keep restarting the game and so on, to get the best possible spawns… which would not even be possible since if you just start the run you don’t know crap about what stuff you get in random settings… like it was… they did not think things thru and were stubborn.

As for the maps and lighting - some guesswork on my part.

The Download was quite small and we know the maps can be played in modded realm, so the maps are always there and remain unchanged from last year. Having an enormous patch just to alter the maps isn’t too kind on those with a lower download speed.

BUT

I happen to think there needs to be some compromise. We have so FEW maps with such little adventure content being released that ANYTHING that freshens things up just a tiny bit is welcome. The clamour to have the maps more often is fueled by the absolute dearth of new maps. IF there were far more maps to play then the appearance of the Halloween maps would be a minor treat at the event rather than “OMFG NEW LIGHTING we need those maps all the time.”

TLDR;
People only want these maps all the time because they’re completely fed up of the one’s we’ve got as they’ve been run 10k times and ANYTHING new is jumped on immediately to stop people thumping their head on the table in frustration/boredom.

On console, where are my pumpkin decoration in the Keep? It was there last year, what is hard to put them on again? :l

Indeed, so they can focus resources on others things, more permanent than events. Instead of using their dev time to refresh events each year.

edit : And with a little duration, they stay fresh.

This is the new portrait frame for the event. Is this again another PC exclusive? Because on Xbox, the portrait frame is the vampire fangs.

Ask them, not me :stuck_out_tongue:

Why would I? They didn’t tell me they are making Halloween event from reused content that doesn’t even need a download to run, so I thought I’d ask you :stuck_out_tongue:

If they were to give halloween as a permanent addition, or Quiet Drink (which doesn’t work anymore :’(), that would mean making something special the next year for the next halloween/anniversary. If it’s stay unique, that means that they can make a new frame, and move on. Using their dev time to work on… whatever, like season 2 or drachenfels maps for example. Whatever they’re working currently.

I wish it at least lasted longer than a week, I just have been busy and had zero desire to play in the last seven days, so I just miss out on it.

Seriously, this should run for at least two weeks - or the whole month.

@Fatshark_Hedge

Could we get an estimate regarding S2? Is it going to start in November? This year? Or just the next?

Lol and I use a save game editor to do this other wise it would be a garbage tier game aside from the story with close to 0% replay value in my opinion.

You trust ransoms speaking down from some podium way too much.

What Borderlands does is nothing else than keep doing what worked last time since that is the lowest risk path to take. The rest is hugely PR.

Of course, if you save edit, then you have what you want, therefore you lose the need for the hunt which is actually a part of the game. You are a living example proving their point.
