Game crashes during initial loading screen - Unknown file version

Since the update today, 08th of November, 2022, the game crashes whenever I start it.
It throws this error message:
‘Unknown file version F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries\plugins\gwnav_pluginw64_release.dll’
Which doesn’t make any sense, because I never modded anything for this game.
It also seems to only appear after this update.
Since I bought the game back in the day (and also all DLCs), I would highly appreciate any feedback on this subject!

I already let Steam search and repair any damaged files and rebooted my computer. The error still comes up 100% everytime I try to start the game.

I also tried this:
Repair Easy Anti-Cheat using the EasyAntiCheat_Setup installer located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\installers\EasyAntiCheat

But that didn’t helped either…

You could try deleting the problematic DLL, and then proceeding to use the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option in the hope that it replaces the problematic DLL with a clean new one.

Hey @FatsharkJulia!

I tried your approach. I deleted the file and then used the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option from Steam.
It said there are 2 damaged files and updated them.
When I tried to start the game afterwards, it still won’t work. Now it names a different file for being ‘Unknown’.
See the screenshots below:

Can you let me know what the next step in this case is?
Just 2 weeks ago, I bought the game for a friend (right before it got free on Steam). But now we can’t play together at all.
It worked fine until yesterday, before the update.
Is there any timeframe you can give me, when this will get fixed?

I decided to reinstall the whole game.
Since I have only 1 Mbit download at any given time, this took incredibly long.
However it finished today.

And now the bug is gone.
So a complet reinstall fixed the bug for me.
