From Reddit: It may be time to bring back mod greenlights - "top" players leaning on QoL mods have too loud a voice in the community calling for balance changes

How do you reconcile the first part with the last? All the more reason people on YOUR TEAM shouldn’t be watering down the game for you. The onus is on the cheaters, not the innocent bystander teammates, to not use gameplay-altering mods, not the rest of the team to shrug their shoulders and accept that at least 1 person on their team is turning it into a lame MMO raid whack-a-mole.

Yeah just a dedicated spot on this forum or something to report mods that overstep these new more fleshed out guidelines (that comes first either way) would be great. While proper sanctioning is clearly too much for FS to handle, I’d hope at least reactively responding to reports to stamp out some of the worst offenders would be within the scope of what they can manage.

Tainted whisky at every saloon, what could go wrong.

I’ll say it again, at any point FS could have chimed (and still can) and stated which mods crossed the line and the official pressure alone may have shame-forced some changes to existing mods, and FS could have silently soft-broken them on the back-end.

Instead as others and I predicted a couple of years ago, we ended with a cheat mod arms-race with increasingly egregious mods in both quality and quantity.

IIRC they have, and it was along the lines of “go for your life”

If I had to rely on Fatshark to sanction the mods to prevent motion sickness from wobbling and fov changes, I would rather get a refund.

That makes me feel sick. How can anyone enjoy that?! Seriously?! Makes me proud to be a purist!

Zero immersion whatsoever. Like a colourful spreadsheet.

I like my whack-a-mole metaphor better, do they not have that in Caledonia? But yeah the average gameplay reddit/streamer vid isn’t too far off. I love these types of threads, including this very one, 'cause people out themselves.

The people who make the game easier with mods and then dare use phrases such as “skill issue” on other players are the worst in the space.

The irony of having no self awareness when their game has had 2000% more awareness jammed into it…

what mobile auto clicker heresy is that??
quick we need a wheel, some horses and a buff guy in a black hood, asap.

its a game where people compete for the best performance :man_shrugging:
if you grow accustomed to people and play with em regularly those usually don’t use them “worst offenders” so its a “clean experience”
when johnny rando hops on and thinks he ows the match due to cheapshittery he’s dead wrong and the game is “on”

its a matter of respect for your fellow rejects.
someone outright disrespects that he gets played against the wall with extreme prejudice :backhand_index_pointing_up:

usually and ironically though (and i must grudgingly admit it) havoc has for the most part the more considerable people

thought experiment: i play my game “clean” and own up my silent trappers/bursters rather than have a helping tool.
in a sense that makes one deaf to them for not hearing them.

so its personal choice to accept the jank and play around it

Unironically posted OFC.

P.S. One of the comments there, re:healthbars an how they’re “useful”, but not cheaty.

It’s very useful with rapid fire low damage and effect over time weapons like recon lasgun as it’s not always obvious how much punishment they require.

Who are they to decide whah mods should i use?
Quality of life mods bad because? Reddit is online cesspool of humanity and theh prove it again.

Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t realize DT was a single player game.

And not one person said anything about actual QoL mods, but do go on, let’s see if that strawman you built will withstand the test of time.

FTFY.

your definition of QoL could be very different to other peoples.

QoL, IMO is stuff that makes menus and character admin easier (i.e the parts of the game that doesn’t involve other players).

Gameplay mods are not QoL, especially when you’re in a shared space.

Let me remind you someone posted here recently complaining that they were banned for making and using an actual auto aim mod. Should Fatshark not have stepped in here?

I think in an obligate online coop game, the Devs are a very reasonable authority on what mods you can run, when modding can go as far as auto solving mini games for you and the aforementioned auto aim. Are you genuinely arguing otherwise? If so I frankly find that baffling.

It’s literally in title of the post.

So you don’t think your “QoL” mods would be greenlit?

I am sure you would love remove something i use. you “people” like to dictate what mods should i use or don’t in non competitive game when there’s no normal scoreboard to even compare results.

And there’s issue of fartshark, in VT 2 there was a mod i wished to use, it was greenlight for years before i started playing it, but they reduced support for the game, old version stopped working and new was not approved because stopped approving in general.

This has been discussed. Most agree a sanctioning system is unfortunately not workable for Fatshark’s output speed. That doesn’t mean improvements can’t be made. Would extra mod guidelines that clarify against the most egregious mods (examples given in previous comment you ignored) hurt you in some way? Should those aforementioned examples really be left as is? You’re going to need to be a lot more convincing if that is in fact your stance.

No they don’t but i am sure you would want something else banned along with these
