My favorite mod is the one that cleans memory leaks because Fatshark hasn’t bothered to optimize the game in 4 years.

SMOG? Or is there another you’re talking about, slightly interested personally.

I use LuaHeapCleaner

I’ll check it out! Thanks.

custom_ui might be the reason i still play the game.

such a minimalistic, tidy hud should be the base and everything else an opt in instead of an overblown consolish billboard.

The game is unplayable without certain mods like the ‘Guarantee’ mods and ‘FullAuto’.

  • Custom Hud
  • Numeric UI
  • Hud Tweaker
  • Hub shortcuts

I honestly just wouldn’t play the game without these. Particularly the first three, the base game UI is just kind of crappy (I also just cant get used to the dodge bars of the base UI, the dodge counter of numeric Ui is mandatory for me at this point) and needing to run around the hub has probably eaten 10+ hours of my life, of course we get a menu shortcut to the premium cosmetics but for the things you will actually be using constantly? Nah just go run around.

Having a decent UI is cheating?

Game is unstable enough already without mods.

Most mods are actual QoL improvements (that should be in the game by default) but there are mods that are pretty much cheating yeah.
At this point I doubt they will bother with the sanction system they used in VT2.

I absolutely use mods.

The vast majority are UI, UX and QoL improvements. Others are new features such as scoreboard, uptime, SoloPlay, Havoc level Psykhanium etc. Few mods are straight out bug fixes.

Wouldn’t play the game without Mods.

… some Mods make the game more stable OR at least have next to no impact.
It really depends on the Mod.

I don’t use a single mod in DT and never have. I agree that gameplay mods are cheating but I think the hub-centric mods are fine (and many should be in the base game!).

Played a h40 game yesterday and the zealot made a snide remark about my ogryn build…“at least it’s not pbb I guess”. I had a Paul with left side of the tree and a stamina curio. Hardly mega meta? So that was one toxic thing caused by a mod…then the same person was pinging stuff miles away and announcing bosses before they were spawning!

…and dared make a remark about my build…presumably to assert it was too ‘meta/easy’ or something…whilst using cheat codes that tell you when stuff is spawning lol. God knows what else he was cheating with but pretty damn galling!

Mostly use various QoL / utility mods that honestly must be a part of the game (and in all other leading titles in the same genre they are).

Like multibind (multiple hotkeys for each action), Better Movement (for a few nifty tricks making movement controls much simpler). TrueLevel and PowerDI scoreboard.
Creature Spawner that does what FS should have added as native features to the simulation long ago.
Mods that fix issues with abilities and weapon swops being ignored by the game sometimes.
And the only one mod that could be considered “cheating” is Emperor’s Lantern - cause FS idea of Lights Out missions’ design is horrendous and couldn’t be far away from “fun”.

Yes, but while we are talking about mods, does anyone here know a mod that allows you to disable the HUD in the game but keep the ability to tag enemies? It’s something that has been grinding my gears since I downloaded the Toggle HUD mod.

try custom ui “f3” .
never tested the tag but assume the response sound should give you feedback if its visible for others even if your screen won’t show it :man_shrugging:

anyways f3 takes everything off, though you can disable every item singularly and thus leave tag untouched since it aint a stationary icon

I would if I could

Are you talking about the “Custom HUD” mod? You said "try custom ui “f3” " but the only mod with customizable ui is “Custom UI colors,” and I don’t think that’s it.

I had some mods installed. Then I switched to Linux and I didn’t bother to look how I can install mods. Since then I don’t use any mods. I guess that’s a kind of self-imposed handicap.
