Frequent crashes with DX12 renderer

Been experiencing some crashes mid-missions lately.

Could you please switch to DirectX 11 within the launcher’s ‘Settings’ menu and see if the crashes persist?

Sure, since it was supposedly the DX12 renderer failing here…

I’ll report back once I get to play another session.

Well, I’ve played some and, as expected, I didn’t encounter any crashes.

Sadly enough, the performance hit when going back do DX11 renderer is just unbearable.

Updated the graphics driver in hope that its the root cause. Can’t really tell if that started with a particular version. The idea of rolling back to previous ones just to rule that out doesn’t sound too appealing either… :expressionless:

Will see if anything changes in DX12…

For what it’s worth, I went back to driver version 19.6.1 (June 7) on my (rather old, now) R9 290 and, so far, I’m not experiencing any aforementioned crashes.

What I did experience, however, were severe performance drops during beastmen terror events on Cataclysm (granted there’s a lot of enemies on screen), and occasional, very severe freezes. I am not sure these are present on the newer drivers, however.

What I can safely say is that the above performance hiccups and freezes are unique to WoM version of the game, while the crashes were first observed on 07.21 with engine_release_celebrate_2019_02_25, so these are not WoM specific.
