FREE new map: Devious Delvings is out now!

Explore the skaven-infested ruins of Athel Lithri to stop the ratmen’s newest scheme!

Heroes!

The second installment in the Verminous Dreams campaign, ‘Devious Delvings’, is out now, free for all owners of Vermintide 2!

Devious Delvings

Having infiltrated the Skaven-infested ruins of the mythical Athel Lithri, our Heroes must now investigate the site to find out what it is that the verminous Pactsworn are scheming. The devastation and machinery suggest a massive project, but what are they after in this temple of all places?

Well, either way, better get to the bottom of it and smash every rat that comes your way. And the ones that don’t, too, for good measure (Saltzpyre agrees).

Just like the previous maps, Devious Delvings comes with its own set of Okri’s Challenges and rewards, such as a portrait frame and paintings!

Versus: Custom Game Settings

And for the Pactsworn enthusiasts, we’ve got an exciting new addition! When creating a player-hosted custom game, the host now has a suite of adjustable settings to tweak and modify how the match will play out! You can take the opportunity to make things super crazy, or to make your own competitive changes!

Some examples of the settings you can find in Custom Games:

  • Early Win toggle
  • Hero Bots toggle
  • Friendly Fire toggle
  • Number of Hero Wounds
  • Knocked down Hero health
  • Horde Ability charge rate
  • Pactsworn respawn timer
  • Pactsworn Catch up with Hero distance
  • Spawn distance from Heroes
  • Pactsworn Health
  • …And more!

On top of those and every other setting being added with this update, we plan on hopefully expanding that list with more and more settings as time goes on! Feel free to give us your own suggestions for settings you’d like to tinker with in Custom Games!

In the lobby browser, games that are playing with rules different from the default ones we use in Quickplay Servers will be flagged as having a modified ruleset.

Patch 6.3.0 patch notes

Features & Tweaks

  • Added a new map, ‘Devious Delvings’, as the second mission in the Verminous Dreams campaign.
    • Mission comes with its own set of Okri’s challenges and rewards as usual, including shillings, a portrait frame and two paintings.
  • Added configurable settings for player hosted Custom Versus Games.
  • (Versus) Made it so Versus Custom Games with changed settings show up differently in the lobby browser.
  • (Versus) Added the ability to set a custom name for Versus player hosted lobbies.
  • Added more combat banter for our Heroes. Hell yeah.
  • (Versus) Removed the ability to respond to other players’ world markers.
  • (Versus) Opening the communication wheel when looking at one’s own world marker no longer displays “Cancel”.
  • (Versus) World markers behind walls are now cancellable.
  • (Versus) Removed cooldown of enemy pings in Versus. Ping attempts that don’t print chat messages have a significantly higher limit regarding spam prevention.
  • (Versus) Removed ‘Ping Only Item’ and ‘Ping Only Enemy’ keybinds. ‘Tag Only’ keybind no longer places world markers. ‘Place World Marker’ is now bound to middle mouse button by default (It is still possible to place world markers with regular tag ‘T’).
  • (Versus) Players can now ping enemies when knocked down.
  • (Versus) Elite enemies are now pingable.
  • (Versus) Pactsworn players can now ping enemies through walls.
  • Added a keybind to only open the Weapon Pose wheel.
  • Added the ability to rebind the key to switch page in the emote wheel.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where opened chests did not properly take levels past 30 into account when calculating the power of items.*
  • Fixed the sanctioned mod ‘Neuter Ult Effects’ crashing in official realm if mods it depends on fail to load.
  • Fixed a bug where Kruber could never thank Kerillian for healing him. Listen, it was embarrassing, okay?
  • Fixed a bug where players could upgrade weapons to Veteran quality before level 30 in certain menus.
  • Fixed Weave bots not using cosmetics from the selected bot Loadout.
  • Fixed a bug with the icons on Versus weapons not resetting when removing applied illusions.
  • Fixed a bug where floating hats appeared in various menus when being in the Versus Keep. I bet that was Olesya trying to lure Kruber somewhere.
  • (Versus) Fixed a bug where the “Easy Meat - Kill a hoisted hero” challenge was obtainable if the killed player was hoisted at any point during the round, not just if the player is hoisted when killed.
  • (Versus) Fixed a bug where the “Not so Fast! - Disable a Hero that is Reviving another Hero” challenge was obtainable by simply disabling any hero, regardless if they are reviving or not.
  • Fixed some mistakes with the German localization.
  • Fixed an issue where hero skins that overwrite hats would still take texture changes from said hat, if applicable (Notably, Slayer head cosmetics changing tattoos and skin)
  • Fixed the model of a rapier illusion having a gap between the blade and the hilt.
  • (Versus) Fixed a bug where controller sensitivity would be reset to default after each round.
  • Fixed wonky UI behaviour after deleting a loadout.
  • Fixed the Huntsman talent “Makin’ it look easy” icon not being colored on the HUD.
  • Fixed the name of a bundle in Lohner’s Emporium spilling out of place.
  • (Versus) Fixed an issue where the matchmaking UI would show ‘N/A’ when Quickplaying while in a party.
  • (Console only) Fixed an issue where the cannonball could get stuck in Fort Brackenburger.
  • (Console only) Fixed a crash and other potential issues when the game reaches the main menu on startup before all necessary resources are loaded.

*: Missed from original patch notes, added 27th of January.

Joyous, the emote wheel can now be rebound. Thank Sigmar. @FatsharkLev appreciate the help!

Also good to see sanctioned mods have not been forgotten about. New map has some jank, though.

My suggestion is adding the single player hero only mode for Versus so the people who do not like to play with/against people could enjoy those maps and get achievements.

Please announce information like streams sooner than the day of. By the time people get around to seeing the news, the stream is already over. If there is going to be Q & A as well, that’s also a good thing to add to the announcement.

As for the patch, it looks good. Options for custom versus are a nice addition. Also enjoy the new story elements via the new maps.

The bugfixes and VS customization options are most welcome! As for the new map…

I really loved the first map of this new campaign, but this one, not so much. Most of the first half is just a big open area, and while the objectives are marked clearly enough, it feels very barren. We played it on legend, and barely anything at all spawned except when we were in the process of doing the objectives. Then from the disable the bomb obective onwards things get hectic, but the game doesn’t tell the players clearly that at some points you have no choice but to wait until the way opens by itself, and twice we were like, WTF, dead end, some of us started backtracking, even. Maybe the escape sequence could be improved if opening the way reqired more player interaction, which would make it both more engaging and less confusing.

The map also had a rather nasty bug, which didn’t exactly leave a great first impression, either. We actually failed the first run because two of us started running the wrong way when the water started rising after the disable the bomb objective. We weren’t near it, so we didn’t see the stairs right next to it. We were trying to find shrooms. Anyway, we see a set of stars (turns out, it wasn’t the right one), jump towards the ground where it’s on and… ledged. For seemingly no reason at all, the walkable surfaces were seemingly connected with no gap inbetween. It looked like a perfectly viable jump up to a knee-high platform. Water rises, and we rise with it, still in the ledge animation, camera glitches out, we view ourselves from beneath the surface of the water, third guy appears trying to help us, appears to walk on air, as now all three of us still raise with the water level, higher and higher, suddenly we all die without warning. Next round, right at the start, a skavenslave just nonchalantly spawns in the first downwards elevator while we ride it.

I got a tip for my fellow mushroom hunters: those mushrooms GLOW! So if you wanna look for them but have trouble spotting the last batches you can try launching the map with the darkness weekly (if it’s there)
