The value of Damage over Time of Flamestorm Staff is higher with Lingering Flames than without it.
Additionally, the tick rate of DoT is much higher than that of other staves, although I think that may be intended, but imo it’s worth pointing out.
Video 1 - Flamestorm Staff
Focus on the grey numbers - the 1st number is 4.25, afterwards each DoT has a value of 8. Also, the time it takes between 4.25 and 8 is much longer than between the following eights.
When I take off Lingering Flames, the DoT is always 4.25; it never reaches 8.
Video 2 - Conflagration Staff
The Damage over Time is always 6, both with and without Lingering Flames. This stands true for all other staves (if I didn’t mess up any test). Also, notice the rate at which the DoT ticks - much slower than Flamestorm.
Video 3 - Tick Rates
- Rat Ogre on the bottom left (6 dmg) is taking damage from Conflagration Staff.
- Rat Ogre in the middle is taking (12.5 dmg) damage from Beam Staff’s beam.
- Rat Ogre on the Upper Right (8 dmg) is taking damage from Flamestorm Staff.
Conflagration Staff ticks much slower than the other two, and Beam Staff ticks slower than Flamestorm Staff.
From brief tests, no other fire DoT ticks as fast as Flamestorm.

Charge up Flamestorm staff vs anything and notice the values of DoT.
