They werent born as prisoners, we dont know how long we’ve been imprisoned.
And not all backgrounds you can pick are that terrible, some are quite decent (for 40k).
Here are some OFFICIAL childhoods you can pick for your rejects :
-
Apprentice Scribe: The most prolific of all offices, the Adeptus Administratum is a bureaucratic monolith made of uncountable lesser departments, charged with the governance of the Imperium.
- At an early age you began to learn the number-churning lexicon of the datasmith scribes in the offices of the Adeptus Administratum.
-
Stinkskin Apprentice: An apprentice in the tanning trade must learn to skin and chem-treat hides of various oversized vermin to create leather. It is hard, nauseating work, but produces craftspeople with a discerning eye… and strong stomach.
- As a youth, you were taken in as an apprentice to a hive tanner, spending countless hours flaying giant sump-rats under the watchful eye of the master craftsman.
-
Progena: Orphans of the Imperium, progena are given an upbringing like no other within the Schola Progenium. There, they learn much of discipline, willpower, and hatred of the traitor, preparing them for life in service to the God-Emperor.
- The promising scion of an Imperial officer slain in battle, you were raised in the Schola Progenium, where you learned to be an uncompromising soldier of the Imperium.
-
Moebian Shrineguard: The Moebian Shrineguard are a religiously fanatical, xenos-hating militia, sworn to defend the tenets and temples of Saint Messelina to the death.
- At a young age you survived the Bloody Throne ritual to join an Ecclesiarchy Militia sect known as the Emperor’s Scions. Initiates into the cause were treated harshly, but you many hardships only tempered your faith and resilience.
Not to mention we dont actually know how our “reject” spent their adulthood, the both psyker, zealot and vet could’ve had led a decent life.
Here’s psyker’s 1 possible life :
“I should have known the enforcers would not tolerate me forever. My skills, they valued, but my nature? That they despised. I was a convenience. One who could glean truths they could not. Who could follow a trail of evidence like a shining path when all others remained blind to its existence, and all of it asking nothing in return. That I brought closure to the grieving and the guilty to the penitent’s pyre was my reward.”
Doenst sound like they’d be kept in a cell malnurished and battered by hard labor. Sounds like this specific one might’ve had led a fairly decent life for a psyker.
Here’s some adult lives we could’ve had lived :
- Spell of Madness: Unsanctioned Psykers are considered to be the most serious threat to the Imperium, and they are ruthlessly hunted. Some go on to be pressed into service by the Scholastia Psykana, but for most, a darker fate awaits.
- You developed mental powers and sought seclusion to avoid persecution, but were eventually captured, and trained by the Scholastia Psykana.
Possibly leading a decent life depending on just how skilled our psyker is considered to be.
- The Voices zealot and Psyker*: In most occupations, hearing voices would be considered a sign of madness. However, to some members of the Ecclesiarchy and the Scholastia Psykana, such messages are a source of inspiration, for they are perhaps a sign of blessed communion with the God-Emperor.
- One day the voice of the Emperor spoke in your mind, and told you to dedicate your life to His service.
Doesnt specify what our life was like, it could’ve had been anything from horrifying to very good (40k standards)
So no, some of us did not spend most of our lives in prison, we did not have horrifying lives (40k standards) and some of us lead a pretty decent life until our “crime” happened.
So your and everyone’s argument that “WE"RE REJECTS SO WE UGLY” is complete and utter bullsh*t.
SOME of us might not even be “normal” looking but rather quite pretty.
