No! Plasteel! For the Emperor!
snatches Plasteel
I like it; it’s a very Abnett line.
Best part? He might very well be right…
True, but for most people it’s a safer bet to try and keep their knowledge of Chaos limited than to gamble on their being able to resist being seduced by it (which reminds me of how the Catholic Church used to limit access to the Bible, and how the current 50,000-some different recognized Protestant denominations would seem to bear out the validity of that caution).
I thought both of the Loners were German…
“Fascism” is a slightly more specific concept than “not a liberal democracy.”
The Imperium does little if anything for “action’s sake.” Virtually everything is a response to some kind of pressing material concern, whether that being the need to churn out enough battle tanks to stave off the constant alien invasions or developing safeguards (in the form of prayers and rituals) to prevent their computer systems being possessed by literal demons.
I know, right? Like, we’re fighting cannibalistic maniacs who are trying to infect the entire population of a planet with Super Space AIDS while mindlessly babbling about “truth” and the situation still isn’t clear to some people.
For me, personally, though, my favourite dialogue bits are from the Professional Veteran, whether he’s trolling the Loner Psykers (or rightfully threatening to shoot them for slandering the God-Emperor), chumming it up with the Ogryns, tentatively asking the Judge Zealot to hear his confession or just generally trying to be the Team Dad for the other characters, his lines are definitely the ones that resonate most strongly with me. On the other end of the spectrum, of course are the Loner Psykers. Just waaaaay too much of their dialogue feels like they’re expounding on information they wouldn’t realistically be privy to, or expressing attitudes that don’t make much sense in-context (like, what are they comparing the Imperium to exactly? Have they been spending time on an Eldar craftworld, or in one of the Tau’s Potempkin Villages?)
Someone commented somewhere that the Loners talk like out-of-universe “tourists” and that seems like a pretty spot-on description.
The same amazing psycher…
“oh now I’m going to have to wash that out of my clothes!” lol
After hundreds of hours of playtime I’m still hearing new lines. Love it.
Anything the Big man usually says
“We have a moment, who will lead us in prayer?”
The zealot said something like this and then started singing a song that he was expecting everyone to join in with, just as huge swarm began attacking… It was hilarious because he just kept on going during the swarm
EDIT
I forgot to add that I’m 99% sure I heard the female psycher make a disapproving “urgh” noise in response to the zealots suggestion of a song
I agree. The voice acting in this game is S-tier+.
There are simply too many to mention. I especially like the Psyker and Ogryn interactions. And I think the vast majority of Ogryn voice lines are gold.
