@Fatshark: Some clean loot changes that are VERY needed (Hopium)

Earning Blessings

  • So first off, why are earned blessings only unlocked for the weapon you got it from? Ogryns literally cannot unlock blessings for other characters’ weapons and vice versa. Most blessings can only be used on a handful of weapons anyways, so they should just be unlocked for everything that can use them. Also, unlocking blessings should just give players the tiers including and below the sacrificed item’s tier. If a certain weapon can only use up to tier 2 and you have tier 3 unlocked from another weapon then you should be A-ok.

Sire Melk’s Random Acquisitions

  • The random items you can buy from Sire Melk should have the same minimum item rating and rarity as his normal shop. Random is already random, so why should it also be worse? His tokens can only be farmed limitedly due to the weekly mission timers anyway. This would give people a good way to get lots of random purple/orange items if they wanted to cheaply unlock blessings in general. More ways to get decent curios is needed too.

Weapon Locks and Rerolling Perks

  • Weapon locks need to go. Limiting players’ ability to modify and use blessings so much is devastatingly bad for the game. Upgrading/crafting lower rating items is also completely pointless and even feels wasteful with the current lock system, which is not good for gear progression in the slightest.
  • With the lock removal changes in mind, rerolling perks should no longer get cheaper until it’s free. People can dump their resources trying to get perfect T4 + T4 perks on their weapons while most players will settle for tier 3s until they get a perfect base modifier rating item. After all, most people don’t care about the difference between 20% and 25% unarmored damage, (but it’s still something to strive for!). They just want not-useless perks and their favorite blessings. This would also get rid of the awkward problem going on right now where people spend 30 minutes hitting a FREE reroll button. Also the curios perks people want would actually be obtainable.
  • Edit: Or ya know, let us just choose the damn perks. plz.

Also

  • Add a reroll button to the armory shop.
  • Add over-leveling like you had in Vermintide2, where you get an extra emperors gift every time you “level up” past 30. (I’m looking at you, XP curios.)
  • XP curio perk should just have 1 tier that is 10% and is acquirable at all player levels. 4% while leveling isn’t noticeable enough.
  • Fuse together a few of the resistance curio perks into things like explosion, fire, and while incapacitated resistance so that they are niche instead of useless.
  • Add a pompadour hairstyle for the ogryn.

Hope this feedback is helpful.

Sincerely, a obese megalodon enjoyer who has been having a bit of a copium overdose lately. (Send hopium plz)

Agree, current system feels bad to interact with

Completely agree.
The removal of perk and blessing locks could be combined with a quality upgrade to „red“.
Make the upgrade cost like 4k Plasteel and diamantine each. The upgrade to red should:

  • permanently unlock perk slots (maybe even add a third one)
  • permanently unlock blessing slots (maybe even add a third one)
  • increase all modifiers to 80
  • unlock the ability to spend additional ressources to upgrade the modifiers further (in steps of 5% or so) until they all reach 100

If it is relatively expensive, players are still incentivized to try and get items with decent base stats and to upgrade a few of them.
But players who dislike any form of RNG and want a long term goal, would have a way to achieve that.

This is counterintuitive and pointless.
For example, instead of requiring 5 rolls at a cost of 100 mats,
you could just as well require 10 rolls at an average cost of 50 mats (with the price starting at 100 and decreasing linearly), before the reroll price drops to 0.

How would that have any effect on that problem?

The way to fix this problem is, to let people select their perk at desired tier from a list (like reblessing) once rerolling is free.

I mean you’re not wrong in any way really. Ideally we should just be able to select a perk, spend resources, and slap it onto a weapon, maybe spend more resources to make it “perfect”. Fatshark seems really hell bent on the whole RNG thing though, so if they “have to” make less people like their game and force RNG in, then rerolling perks similar to Vermintide isn’t the most painful system… People still wont like it, but idk, mandatory gamba design philosophy and all that bullsh1t.

You are just a hater who refuses to accept the ineffable design.

I agree with everything except the refining costing an increasing amount of resources. It already takes 100+ rolls to get what you are looking for. It would be a pain to have infinitely scaling resource costs. If anything just make it a flat cost and let us choose the perks. Better yet just remove the different perk tiers and make them all maximum so that way we only need to select what type of damage we want instead of the amount. That would eliminate half pool of worthless weak perks altogether.

the thing with unlocking everything once you get to red, is that it negates the point of locking up to that point to begin with. People will just wait until they make it fully upgraded before they change anything anyways, so it’s moot to have the locking system even with that change. Other than that, I agree that people should be able to control the weapon’s stats and properties, and be able to work it up to 100%.
