We will have to agree to disagree on the word ‘directly’ then, I think.
As players have spent time perfecting their aim, only to have cheaters come in and nullify their skill acquired over time with an aimbot.
Then am I breaking this rule when I get all the trappers before someone else? I don’t use this mod but how would someone know I wasn’t? This feels slippery.
Don’t misunderstand me here. I’m not defending the use of these hacky mods used by nerds. It isn’t exactly a hot take to say “you shouldnt use healthbars.” I am defending the use of mods at all since the alternative is an ogryn frag bomb on the nexus page, and that sadly means this is allowed. It would be tight if fatshark uses the new ogryn precision stubber on the nexus page instead.
Pretty much nobody was privy, they buried it in Discord and barely anyone talks about it. By keeping it on the DL people can do whatever the hel they want with zero consequences from the player community at large, which as per the dev post, has the right to self-police, that includes you and me.
People make incorrect and false assumptions as to what “FS green-lights” and use that in their arguments, feel free to peruse that thread and others like it for some real insight.
This isn’t really true, apparently the community was supposed to self-police, authors and users alike. There could have been pressure from the authors themselves with each other and from users, there still can be, the "mercy of the communitys[sic] opinion of the mod " as per FS dev post instead everything is kosher and nothing is verboten. Nexus has nothing to do with FS really and again, allows cheaty mod authors to disable tagging a cheaty mod as a cheat.
Then am I breaking this rule when I get all the trappers before someone else? don’t use this mod but how would someone know I wasn’t?
How would you using your natural skill violate a rule about using mods exactly?
How would someone know you weren’t using a mod? They wouldn’t. That’s why it shouldn’t be up to us to try to sus out who is cheating in our missions (an impossible task) and mods that are outright cheats should be removed from Nexus at the very least.
I don’t agree that it has to be all or nothing.
I think we should call out cheats masquerading as mods. If Fatshark expects us to “self police” then calling them out seems worthwhile. Though I’m afraid all I’ve done is inadvertently advertised this cheat if Fatshark or Nexus isn’t going to remove it.
It’s not the only offender, it’s just the most prevalent.
Why should I let it go? I’m exercising my right and duties as per FS’s official policy , the “mercy of the communitys opinion of the mod”.
We’re in this mess precisely because stuff was obfuscated and “let go”.
Why’d you stop using it?
Yup, or you know, "LeT It GO "
P.S. You don’t get to complain about now Havocs being too easy with all the ESP mods.
The indicators are worse than just hearing the special and reacting to it. The mod now exists for deaf people and people tired of poxbursters breaking every other sound in the game while alive.
Puh-lease, I really cannot go through all the same tired BS excuses y’all are throwing at the wall again to see if this time they’ll stick, they’ve all been covered and rebutted, see the other threads.
Apologies I’m fairly new to the forum and don’t know how to reply to multiple people in a single reply-post.
This isn’t really true, apparently the community was supposed to self-police, authors and users alike.
This is all well and good but I can’t think of any game where “community policing” has had any significant effect on the modding scene. Not to get off too off-topic but coming from a FF14 raiding background there is simply no way to prevent other raiders from using cheaty mods, even in your own party unless you explicitly know theyre cheating, despite every single player in the game declaring all the time these mods are cheats and Square Enix coming down hard on players caught cheating. SE is aware of every single cheaty plugin/mod (the same way FS is aware of their own cheaty mods) and has the capacity to simply harpoon the program used for these cheats at a moments notice but they don’t. It would effect way too many players who don’t cheat.
Now admittedly it’s not quite the same thing, because the FF14 Dalamud program is community made and does have some features designed to keep out cheaty mods, but cheats happen regardless. The equivalent to taking down Dalamud would be FS taking down the Darktide Mod Framework, which I heard was maintained by FS but I could so easily be wrong about that. I doubt they would do something like that either way.
I’m with you on we should bully the creators of these mods out of the community because I really hate obnoxious stuff like healthbars, but as that will never happen (or they will create and share their creations regardless) it comes down to the company to make the call. That never goes well.
That is how it will be if the call on mods has to come down from the company. It can never go a different way than that, or I haven’t seen that go down differently at least. I would love to be wrong and they only snipe this aimbot and stuff but I highly doubt I will be. I see a world where what happens after is ‘oh woe is me I am a helpless victim’ from these creators. I’m down with cheaty mod authors getting all upset as much as you, but the only way this mod gets removed is either the modder gets rid of it himself through community pressure or FS flips EAC on and we get nothing. The most likely one of those is FS turning on EAC, and this kills the crab.
I don’t think the community opinion of Spidey Sense is accurately reflected by one dude who complains about it every single chance he possible can for weeks to months on end.
If there were more than 5 people working on this game, I’m sure Fatshark would work on an official version of it.
Awww if only there was some way to block me. Yeah you make a good point: cheaters and/or hypocrites dislike being called out, you’re sorely mistaken if you think it’s just me BTW.
You’re part of the problem by making excuses for them.
Why are you worrying about what I’m worrying about?
It’s worrying that some of you don’t care about this and others in your public party cheating, and make excuses for them. Sign of the times I suppose…
BTW it’s hilarious that you named the mod in a discussion about cheats, nobody else did, quite telling.
P.S. I guess you wouldn’t care if you’re one of them.
You weren’t exactly being subtle about your grievances. I don’t know man just go play the game and have fun or something. I’ve been taxiing a bunch of people through Havoc 40 and what mods any of those players are using hasn’t crossed my mind.
