I guess some people quit after the backlash, eh?

Didn’t DT sell fairly well? Besides production Team Lead all of these could just be expansion. But there’s no way to know for sure.

I mean, look at Darktide’s 42% positive rating. Sales or not, there are few happy customers.

Yes but for business terms it might have sold well enough alongside cosmetics to warrant fleshing out some departments. Again as only one of these positions is a leadership one I wouldn’t definitively say this is a sign of mass calamity at FS.

Man, I wish I could be a fly on the wall at Fatshark HQ. New team lead could be a pretty good thing if they get somebody who comes from a company where these kinds of delays and poor communication are unacceptable.

While that might be true, the other theory could be true as well. Only those in the office know the truth to be sure, so… fingers crossed on an expansion rather than an exodus, I suppose.

Either way, hopefully they get a competent production lead ASAP, and that they are given enough power to make some significant changes to the FS development cycle.

TBH the brain behind all the horrible systems is probably that Lead Designer that gave the interview. He’s probably not going anywhere anytime soon.

these positions have been open for months

considering most of these say “upcoming title darktide” and i saw them listed about 4-5 months ago as well

Yes but thats the internal game design, I’m more talking about making sure stuff is fleshed out, finished and stable before it’s released. And also hopefully stopping the whole team going on a 3-6 month trip to make a console release.

Well in that case, clearly they were needed

They should probably hire a proper systems designer.

Surprised they aren’t looking for psychologists. According to Aqshy they need to find a balance between abusive RNG and fun so I would start there…

Finally, my time to fail upwards is here! Getting paid to do nothing? What an amazing opportunity

I see expanding the team as a good thing.

Posted this somewhere else but I guess it applies here too:

There is a good chance that Fatshark muzzled their staff after the online backlash.

If you start crawling thru twitter, you can find a lot of Fatshark employees. Most used to be very active on twitter and then pretty much everyone went full radio silence.

I dont think things are good at the office right now.

I hope not. Even if I don’t like all the systems I’m not rooting for anyone to lose their job.

For real. If people don’t like what they make, don’t play the game. Rooting for people to lose their jobs because they don’t make the game you want is petty.

Whats most sad is that all of these jobs seem to align with the problems that the game has outside of the concept/2d artist positions. Makes me think they are either trying to expand (couldn’t imagine it with their staff of 150) or they laid off the people who were responsible for the game turning out how it did. Or even that they simply quit after this whole mess released.
