In my opinion Ogryns should be included in elites talent. We already have a really “watered” talents tree… and Exe Stance is probably the least used ultimate
Then I know there is a lot to do around Veteran, but I just wanted to focus on this aspect
Yeah, that felt really forced and hamfisted, something thrown on as an illusion of choice that doesn’t really offer much utility. A lot of this tree feels like something designed around pen and paper game paradigm, not so much a fast-paced shooter.
Spotting large enemies for a mechanical bonus in a tabletop RPG is one thing. Needing a 4th sub-talent node to simply visually highlight the easiest-to-acquire targets in the game in an FPS feels like an absolute waste.
Exe stance having four different add-on talents is very excessive. At least one of those should be integrated into the base skill, the duration-extender for instance.
Was really hoping to get reload-on-ult back in the rework but I was rather disappointed, that would actually be worth spending a talent on.
The actual ult is so nerfed vs patch 12 the gratuitous amount of filler nodes to restore it to like 50% of previous Volleyfire is just gross. Like this ult really needs to provide raw damage instead so it can be useful for more than just weapons with good finesse.
Genuinely curious why they decided to add it back in, honestly. It’s not like ogryns get lost in a horde like specialists and smaller elites, and they’re so huge you can see them from a long ways off.
there’s a lot of bloat in the vet’s skill tree, but this isn’t one. i want the ability to single out ogryns, and i want it to be seperate from all the other ones so they don’t get rolled into another option. there’s some edge cases for ogryn targeting and more importantly it makes sure fatshark doesn’t screw volly fire worse by making their fat hides block me from targeting any enemies too close to them like snipers and gunners
Yeah the vet is talent point starved at this point. It isn’t as bad as people are making it out to be, you now actually have to make choices. But the capstones are farther down than any other character and they all have so many optional nodes.
Vet needs like 3 more talent points to compensate.
I agree but Volley Fire has too much bloat now imo. Someone else on the forum suggested it and I agree that the refresh needs to be rolled into the base ultimate.
It should of been combined with the 30% dmg on Ogryns perk, having it be a force lock in exchange for shooters was silly especially with the already big nerfs on vet overall.
After playing a couple matches, I disagree. If you are smart about your build vet is better than ever. Especially a commissar build shouting constantly and marking targets for deletion. Support vet is amazing now. Huge team buffs and toughness sustain for the entire team so you are not gimping yourself. 8 stacks of 4% (32%) damage to target that becomes 8 stacks of 1.5% (12%) damage for 10 seconds and 40% toughness and stamina refill on mark kill plus 10% melee and ranged damage for 5 seconds on shout which also gives +50 toughness and revives downed allies.
Wow 1 build
In a system that is supposed to facilitate many viable builds
That’s why people hate it, the whole system is supposed to promote build diversity but fs for vet specifically they make it as arbitrary limited and restricted as possible with the most insane design choices.
It’s even worse that if you choose the highlight Ogryns, it locks you out of being able to highlight ranged enemies - which are far more abundant and useful to keeping your executioner’s stance / volley fire active in my opinion. Not a single part of the vet tree and its changes are well designed or thought out. No Veteran player had any part in designing this.
That is merely the build I decided to talk about. I have 2 others that are great. A Vraks 7 using the weakspot capstone that rips and a columnus 5 infantry that doesn’t even use the capstones that shreds just as well as before the patch if not better now that it is less feat-taxed. Also have a hot0swap build using chainsword (because I don’t have a good power sword) and snub that is a fun new playstyle.
It isn’t perfect, and I do agree the bottom of the tree needs some cleaning up because those capstones are still right where the old single nodes used to be and people could barely get those, but it is far from as bad as all of you negative nancies are making it out to be.
Given the speed of them walking back the voice of command +100 buff they are clearly still working to balance the vet tree. You can actually still do many of the builds pre-capstone. Heck ou can do them better because of kill confirmed being moved to the top and it still is great even with the nerf to account for how easy it is to pick up.
Given the capstones are still where they were from before and people ignored them prior to this, you can just keep ignoring them if you don’t like them. The capstones themselves are really good, the bottom of the tree just needs to be cleaned up and shortened by about two levels to bring it in-line with the other 3 characters.
How fatshark didn’t think to remove the pointless stat nodes near the end just still baffles me, they completely ruin the whole point of having it be a skill tree system for vet. It’s such an easy fix and they didn’t do it lmao.
Honestly the toughness and HP nodes need to go. Give us back the old baseline toughness and HP. This would condense the trees by about 3 rows in doing so. and thus give at least 3 more points to be flexible which I think is plenty fair for a starter point.
