Issue Description (Required):
ATTENTION: Any players that still experience error code 2014, I have a GOOD solution that will at the least minimize the amount of BS disconnects due to this error and will post the steps to perform this bug fix here. Which NEEDS to be addressed by Fatshark
(Seriously , why cant I use dual band WIFI? IT’S FASTER?) .
The error is being caused by two issues , ports and 5g networking (mostly via WIFI) I am unsure if ethernet players experience this error.
Step one:
Enter the default gateway key into your web browser for windows :
Windows key > CMD as administrator > IPCONFIG > Default gateway
Go to your routers settings (By using this default gateway address in the web browser) and enter these ports as inputs and outputs but make sure to match their TYPE: Being TCP or UDP
STEAM:
XBOX & GAMEPASS :
Nextly, ignore any stupid requests for deleting appdata, this doesn’t work. Go to your control panel and access:
Network section > Network and sharing center > Connections: Click on your WIFI network > Properties at the bottom right > CONFIGURE > ADVANCED >
Then go to 802.11 a/b/g wireless mode > Change this value from (DUAL BAND) to (2.4GHZ B/G)
The results will vary depending on your WI-FI network. But this one change definitively worked to make Darktides’ connection much more stable even though my network is technically slower as a result.
The explanation for this: 5G networks are faster, but they are less stable. 2.4 is longer range and more stable than 5G is. Thats the short and simple of it. It can get more complicated than that but ill just leave it to that.
Also, look up how to add Cloudflare DNS to your IPV4 connection. It isn’t hard.
Thats it, that’s how I cured this BS error for the time being. But let it be known this is a DARKTIDE issue. Not your network. I play every multiplayer game under the damn sun without issues so this needs to be fixed.
FOR CONSOLE PLAYERS:
The only advice I have is to get on a laptop connected to your WI-FI network and attempt the port forwarding. It isn’t difficult by any means. The username and password are on the back of your router.
ALSO: If you need to convert your wifi to 2.4G instead of dual band, there are two possible solutions for you that MIGHT work . Dont hold me to this:
1: There might be a setting in your router that allows you to separate wifi channels into 5G and 2.4G respectively, under separate names. Connect your XBOX or PS to the 2.4G network you make.
2: Buy a WI-FI mesh extender with something called “FASTLANE TECHNOLOGY” . I got a mesh extender from the ole’ Wally Mart and its named a “Netgear Nighthawk” mesh extender. Once you set it up you can enter into its settings by using the default gateway on a PC or laptop once you connect to its default network. Set up fast lane to convert your WIFI network 5G into a 2.4G network. That way you get the speed of receiving WIFI to a closer point in your house, but the stability of a 2.4G delivery to your PC or Console. It really works quite well.
Even if it is a bit of a roundabout solution.
Let me know how this stuff works for you guys.
May the emperor protect.
