Issue Description:
Epic EOSOverlay is executed with darktide even if darktide.exe is launched from steam.
Since steam’s overlay is known to cause issues with framerates, and is recommended to be turned off, epic’s overlay might as well. And is also executed without informing the players.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Have Epic’s EOS overlay installed by having played an epic game in the past, one way or a other.
- Install darktide from steam and execute it.
- even if you do not start literally anything epic games related, epic’s EOS overlay is still executed and shown in task manager.
Platform:
Steam, windows 10 fully up to date.
Approx. Time of Issue & Timezone:
0600 GMT+1/20.11.2022
Reproduction Rate:
100%. Any execution of darktide comes with unwanted epic EOSoverlay.
temporary fix found
Rename both epic OESoverlay applications, the 64bit one and 32bit one, to .png instead of .exe.
Epic’s OES is not longer executable and executed afterwards.
This also implies EOS reliant games can’t be run of course. Which does not impact myself, but may impact some people.
