This was a nerf because some players on these very forums put up a big fuss about how oppressive shooters are. So they nerfed the detection radius for enemies. Now you can detonate a rumbler half a room away and they won’t even give a damn.
Nah they needed a nerf but it went too far, kinda like the mutant. Turning around in 1s was pretty stupid if there were 2 on screen at a time, let alone 5 max like we have now with shock gauntlet, but now he sits still for so long after hitting a wall you could kill him with the slab shield. Similarly shooters needed less range so shooter patrols didn’t spawn already alerted, but not so much so that you can walk up to enemies and beat them to death without their allies noticing like its a bad shooter game stealth mission.
I have to say Skaven VT2 enemies really made me laugh.
In terms of functionality, snipers seem to be their attempt to fill a similar role, in terms of zoning/longer range/single target with a timed dodge.
In practicality, snipers are a lot less interesting to deal with. In terms of just “Where are the enemy psykers?” Well… there’s daemonhosts? ![]()
More underhive mutants with slings, crossbows and multiple limbs holding melee weapons would add a bit more flavour to the Dregs.
If we need to bring more flavour to the Dreg, we should introduce Plaguebearers (ELites, letting them also reuse the Animations/Model to make a Sloppity Bilepiper, as a special, and a Herald of Nurgle, as a Lord/Assassination Target), and possibly Nurgling as small localized threats.
Mutant Rabble should be used for a Tzeentch faction’s melee units (Bruiser, Mauler…) alongside Thralls
Those are two different enemies - the guys in brown are cultists (Dregs) whilst the guys in the armour are traitor Guard (Scabs).
On the subject though, I agree the sound in this game is great. And contrary to the subject of the thread all the enemies have some lines afaik, but they tend to be drowned out in the general cacophony of music, gunfire etc.
well having some lines doesn’t mean they are memorable, that’s my major point,
having generic soldier talk doesn’t strike me as devoted and insane worshiper of a eldritch entity,
and the contrast from soldiers retaining their humanity, to insane salivating bile slob could have been amazing, but their is almost nothing (sound wise) that links them to their patron, except denouncing they are indeed just that.
that’s like walking to a random person in new york with hipster clothing and asking if he believes in christ? and he answering, “yea sure”.
where are the insane zealots who would willingly inject every known disease to man, to show how devout they really are?
