bit weird to squeeze “this” into a post for it only explains some major points (and otherwise it’d rival some 400 page/bound-rambling :face_with_tongue: )

but anyways,

passion (and it goes without saying this being personal definitions and takes) stems from presentation.

the most cool stuff in a bland coating isn’t gonna excite someone else most of the time.

40k never was something that appealed to me for it was either rpg games or those tiny painted miniatures, nice design but cmon I got a room full of 1/6 figures, I dont do “tiny” :face_with_tongue:

even space marine at release came and went cause in comparison it had “console” and third person written all over… nu-uh

ever since my days in front of a 486 and playing doom first person shooter’s where it’s at and fast… no tent-pitch camping “strategists” either :rofl:

so there’s a few hall of famers, that I have on my laptop right now here in hospital even.

and among them fallout 1&2.

why the oddities? presentation.

thick atmosphere, adult content, non apologetic post nuclear setting that takes itself (back then and some puns from fallout2 ignored) “serious”

something I can enjoy at face value and know by looking what I’m getting into.

with the art design and combat flow, darktide did exactly that.

I get no “kicks” from hacking rats, nor am I a medieval setting kinda guy.

human enemies, dark atmosphere, ogryn with “stabile” :flexed_biceps: , I’m sold.

and once I am, I ravenously try to get as much from it, be that ingame content, hours played or (and here’s the kicker) me to skip scale in my figures hobby, shelving some 1/6 to make room for a ton of 1/12 mcfarlane figures.

painting them even… me… painting…. can’t paint a wall proper and do tiny eyeballs now…

all this motivation for the core theme would not have been there if not for the game itself.

so basically “thats” what passion means to me going all in for a title of choice.

aint playing many games nowadays. nothing scratching that same itch.

so even the every now and then modded fallout new vegas for example I feel I could get some nice darktide matches recorded in that time instead.

Have you played Ashes 2063? It gives me Fallout 1&2 vibes but in gzdoom.

seen good things about it for sure and there’s the gz(?)doom fallout 1, concept as of now basically but hot damn wouldn’t that be something :face_with_tongue:

got it installed, 2 meters away on my laptop as we speak :laughing:

one of those games to pass the time while having my stay at the hospital.

played it at home prior of course, good for what it is but the simplified pixel art isn’t quite my cup of tea to sink the same amount of playtime into as in darktide.

proved to be a boon running 50fps on my old laptop though, even when currently i’m content being able to sit upright for a while without :nauseated_face:

Sandbox survival. Very Escape from Tarkov. Don’t let the low polygon graphics fool you - It has same inventory, attachments and magazine system as Tarkov, even the healing, drinking, eating etc upkeep. Can play in 3rd or 1st person.

Different POIs on map to loot different buildings. Use of vehicles, meet other factions, not just zombies.

Port, small town, underground, airfield. Some nice weather and lighting effects.

for what its worth health insurance here in germany covers all the costs which would range from 50-100k€ otherwise , stem cells and all.

Whilst not twitchy, Stalker 2 would pass time very well! They’ve included night goggles now too.

my thanks, but I usually put all the funds in a stationary rig (last one specifically “for” darktide)

the laptop right here has some 10 years of service :saluting_face: and I’m glad boltgun is running in a 50-60ish fps range

the “funniest” thing though is losing all sense of body feel if that makes sense due to leukocytes and platelets (had to google that :face_with_tongue: ) being literally zero for quite a while.

currently fallout 2 keeps me occupied, depending on the daily condition boltgun is doable on the highest difficulty, so there’s hope I’ll be back into darktide as soon as I’m home again.

as for stalker2, I enjoyed the game to a degree but it’s one of “those” you try to squeeze every content out of but roughly around the 70% mark you realize it aint got more meat on its bones, so I kinda rushed the ending to get it done with.

kinda odd to describe, something about the interaction with the world doesn’t click with me.

it’s great when I explore hidden bunkers and desolate medical facilities in an environmental storytelling kind of way.

Yes I felt the same TBH but 70% in Stalker was a LOT of playing lol. That was right near release though and it looks like they’ve added loads of new stuff since then. When the DLC mission pack drops I might start a fresh playthrough. Will be nice to have night goggles this time.

Ah sorry I missed that it has to be fairly kind on FPS. In that case, if you want something more soothing that still looks great and runs great then the Talos Principle (and the second one) are nice boredom cures.

Blimey sounds rough :pensive_face: But make sure they don’t give you a blue stimm by mistake as it will turn you into an immortal god of infinite rage where you will destroy everything! :squinting_face_with_tongue:

well, one of the IVs I get every now and then has a sickly yellowish color.

sadly “ult” hasn’t recharged yet :rofl:

well I tried stalker 2 1.6 again prior to my hospital stay, but the honeymoon phase was over sadly

You should try some Stalker Anomaly modpacks

I took mods from Stalker Anomaly Custom, Stalker Anomaly Gamma, other modders modpacks and also from Stalker Anomaly Mod listing website. Picked out the ones I liked to keep it slim 32GB then combined them in right order to avoid conflict by seeing the manner they order mod loading.

I took all best of graphic like screen space shaders, sound, music, body/weapon inertia etc

It looks and plays better than Stalker 2 in survival mechanics and world feels more living. It could probably run well on 5 year old GPU and still look better. Someone on Stalker Anomaly custom discord server said it runs great on his RTX2060 even.

thing is, if I wanted to download that size of data, It’d probably take longer than my scheduled release on friday IF stuff goes to plan :face_with_tongue:

at home my rig has no issues running such modlists, fallout new vegas got some 514-ish when the prospector mod list still was on wabbajack.

now is basically the home stretch with getting bone marrow taken from the hip and a “tube” inserted into the carotid artery right side of my neck.

both pack an “individual punch” in terms of pain (still far less painful than my last “choice” with only local anesthesia, but hey the money saved got me a noble chair, so gritting my teeth for half an hour was “worth it” :rofl: )

long story short: I won’t be in any gaming condition until I leave here which is both good as in “earlier home” and bad…. well i think one can guess nobodies keen on having chunks of bone drilled out and the marrow “sucked” :flexed_biceps:
