I agree about the ranged, but rather than giving up a slot I think it should be an additional alt attack of the single/dual axes similar to Saltz’s alt attack on the rapier.
That would be good and it could be tied to their dual wield axes. Alt fire, throw chain axe, play with the cool down on it.
If it had a “pull” affect for you or the mob it would really help with their mobility too. Leap in, pull out, pull in, leap out. etc.
Oh my gosh a pull action ala Scropion’s “Get over here!”
There was a slayer in Gav Thorpe’s book Dwarfs that had one, so the lore is there.
I really would like to see a Snorri Melee option. 1h axe and 1h hammer. High damage and crowd control? Im in.
I thought the same the first time I played with the slayer. And talking about Snorri… it would be insane to have some cosmetics of him and Gotrek
Is everyone here on crack?
Slayer was horrible during late beta due to dying in 2 hits. But now Slayers are amazing, their axes are have the best move set and stats in the game. Armor piercing, fast attack, stagger, fast heavy attack, continuous weapon swing moveset, All side swipes and being a dwarf means you cant miss. Not to mention the cooldown on Leap is short (though that got nerfed after beta)
Where range classes are great for specials, Slayer is the elite killers that can deal with strong packs/hordes without having to wait for special ability. I think they are in a good place right now, but that depends on whether they nerf the kill for temp HP thing.
Slayer is my fav class atm and do well with him in legend. Tbh I wouldn’t want him buffed. Maybe give him a way to deal with enemies that are further away. Like a chain pull or axe throw. Like salt’s rapier. Sometimes it’s a pain when a rattling gunner is shooting from a hill you can’t get to.
I’m totally happy with the slayer vs armored enemies and normal mobs. I don’t want to see the classes break down into some loosely differentiated structure with only the illusion of choices, trust me. I just want the slayer to be a monster slayer
Something vs big baddies similar to the level 10 talent of mercenary, mage, and stalker, but relevant to monsters.
The biggest issue is not with Slayer itself, but that on Legendary the solution to higher difficulty = more specials.
The Devs need to take note from L4D and make audio cues alot more noticable and persistant and make the AI director smarter. Nerf certain range classes, and you got yourself a lovely difficulty.
Chucking tons of enemies is a cheap and lazy way to increase difficulty, just like in bad strategy games where the opponents just cheat, rather than be smarter.
do u have crunch oR the movement speed buff at lvl25? Or just tell me your whole talent tree
Och är du svensk ^^?
The reason this won’t happen is because this is the Warhammer Universe. Slayers are not supposed to do anything at a range. Dwarfs become Slayers when they need to redeem honor. It’s similar to seppuku. They put their hair in a mohawk, get rid of all armor including shields, are forbidden of doing anything at a range and for the rest of their life charge into the heart of the enemy and kill as many people as possible before they die. There is actually a dwarf that was so good at this he never died and lived a life of eternal combat lol
By that measure of lore however I agree that the damage increase instead of attack speed increase was a move in the wrong direction. The goal of a Slayer is quantity of kills not taking down big ones. Damage gears towards a better Special killer while attack speed is much better for hordes
I think you’re wrong about slayers and here’s why:
-
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Slayers
No mention of ‘not supposed to do anything at range’ -
http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Malakai_Makaisson
Malakai was an engineer turned slayer. who piloted a gyrocopter laying waste to skaven in one of the Gotrek and Felix novels.
A slayer does not want to commit honorable sudoku. That’s the opposite of a slayer. A slayer wants a WORTHY end. They want stories and legends ascribed to them. If a slayer had the opportunity to equip an irondrake’s flame thrower and solo take on an endless wave of skaven and kill them and himself you bet he would be eager to do it.
I’m not a Warhammer expert, but I have read a lot of the books and think that I have a pretty good understanding of the lore. If you have some examples of why they shouldn’t be able to throw the axe in their hand, I’m not afraid to admit being wrong.
I thought the same, but then I realized that in the game he can throw grenades… So, what should they do? Remove them? Add the throwing weapons? I don’t think they would make any great change after all this time
They also have in Lore and on TT had Slayers with thrown axes connected to chains. The Lore is there to do it, the game would benefit from it, I just don’t know how much work is involved in adding the thrown axe on a chain.
I had forgotten about that. The bombs still being usable is another reason they should have ranged alt-fire with the dual axes.
Dude that chain axe idea with a bit more survivability would be dope af. A fully charged attack that could hook and drag enemys towards you would be an awesome answer for specials you can’t really kill as a slayer due to positioning. with regular attacks it could be similar to the flail.
I didnt read a lot of the thread or OP, but I will say that Slayer needs a lot of work. To simply survive even Veteran, I needed to spec into Stoutfellow, Oblivious to pain, Moving target. I sacrifice so much damage potential just so that I don’t get 4-hit. After the run is done, Im at the bottom of every possible category, and considering we don’t have a ranged attack. If I went into Champion on my slayer, forget it.
Slayer does need some i-frames or temporary invuln/increased armor or something like that.
I think his ultimate is also counter productive. You use it…when? On a horde? And then get smacked around like a rag doll? Use it on a boss? And if that boss turns to you, forget it.
I went back to iron breaker. Slayer needs major work.
Alot of things need alot of work, like tool tips, and the ‘default’ classes, for the most part they are set to the wayside cause other options are just intrinsically better.
Slayer is in a good place, he just needs invul frames on jumps (would be easier than tweaking everything else) and some of his talents reworked (no one in their right mind would choose staunty savior over any of the other options, move staunty savior into a passive he already has).
