Ante scriptum:
- This is not a Weapon customisation demand, this system would be made to be working within the current weapon cosmetic system.
Dual weapon in VT2 are awesome (and the most interesting method for Dual weapon personally), and FS’s already has reused weapon animations from VT2 (what I call legacy marks, eg: Tigrus Mk XV Heavy Eviscerator), so they could or should do the same with certain past weapon kit (and then add new variants that expand on it):
Summary
- Bardin’s Dual Axe: Return in the form of Dual Chain Axe (I would consider Dual Combat/Tactical Axes to be fortuitous) (Vet and Zel)
- Saltz/Bardin’s Dual Hammer: Returning in the form of the Dual Thunder Hammer (Zealot Exclusive, would require shortened/1h THammer)
- Kerillian’s Dual Elven Sword: Return in the form Dual Catachan Swords
- Kerillian’s Dual Elven Dagger: Return in the form of Dual Catachan Dagger
- Kerillian’s Elven Sword and Dagger: Return in the form of Catachan Sword and Dagger
- Kruber’s Sword and Maul: Return in the form of Ogryn Knife and Club
- Saltz’s Rapier: Return in the form of Duel Sword and Laspistol
- Saltz’s Hammer and Tome: Difficult to say, either some Psyker stuff or some blessed weapon for Zealot (or a other unnamed Saintly archetype)
But on the other hand, Vermintide’s dual weapon cosmetics are somewhat too restricted:
- Weapon skin are bound together (Same as how DT work for the Shield set)
Which mean that weapon that are different (like Axe and Falchion) can’t switch from one another
Additionally certain weapons (Rapier) change the skin of the main weapon, but not the secondary (Pistol)
Idea for new system
Instead DT should lean further into the customisation, without necessarily going into a FTD/Weapon attachment mod depth (Cause they’re causing issues with server and with the Prem shop)
As the weapon kits for Dual weapons are composed of 2 wholly separate models, they could be made to be able to be changed without major issues.
This would also fix the issue of weapon skin from 1h weapons and them being reused for Dual sets. (Which would be difficult to accept by the players) while giving the dual weapon new skins without much additional work (Just potential clipping issues)
