Grim Protocol in December

With the missing Veteran weapon (Unknown atm what and when it is), we can wager that 1 or 2 marks were planned putting it at 15-16 weapon marks
This give us an average of 18 marks per year.
Now if we consider that every weapon family/model is meant to get 3 marks (Staves, Rumbler/Kickback, Shield being their own special cases) we’re missing the following (This is from past model datamining, do remember that datamining something doesn’t mean it will 100% happen, see Vt2’s Flame Wall staff and Grenade Launcher, BG3’s Avernus and High City…):
Melee:
- 2 Power Mauls (Ogryn)
- 1 Power Sword (Veteran)
- 1 Shock Maul (Shared)
- 1 Chain Axe (Shared)
- 1 Combat Blade (Shared)
- 1 Chain Sword (Shared)
- 1 Evicerator (Zealot)
- 1 Thunderhammer (Zealot)
- 2 Crusher (Zealot)
- 1 2h Power Swords (Zealot) not datamined
- 1 2h Blaze Greatsword (Psyker) not datamined
Ranged:
- 2 Combat Shotgun (Shared)
- 2 Bolt Pistols (Shared)
- 2 Bolters (Shared)
- 1 Laspistol (Shared)
- 1 Revolver (Shared)
- 2 Plasma Gun (Veteran)
- 2 Flamers (Zealot)
- 2 Grenadier Gauntlet (Ogryn)
- 1 Rumbler/Kickback (Ogryn, datamined content point to Slug version)
For a total of: 13 melees and 16 ranged
I’d rather quite like to see a 50% new weapon marks, so about 10 marks for the current sets, and 10 spread around on various new weapons
Examples for possible future marks to current weapons:
Ranged:
Dual Revolver/Laspistol/Bolt-Pistol/Autopistol
John Blanche (Bolt Pistols) / Petros Stefanidis (Hand Flamers) / Mark Gibbons (Autopistols)
I don’t really think there is much sense to have 3 different Dual Revolver/Laspistol/Bolt-Pistol, and that Blessing wise, it doesn’t really break any of the current ones nor need new ones.
This could also apply to any future 1h ranged weapon (Plasma Pistol, Hand Flamer…), and for mechanical ease, keeping it to Dual weapons and not having them be Plasma + Bolt etc…
Mechanically:
- Action 1: Shoot alternately 1 gun after the other
- Action 2: Braced both gun
→ Revolver - Boltpistol: Shoot 1 gun after the other
→ Laspistol - Autopistol: Shoot both at the same time - Action 3: Pistol whip or other special from the 1h version (As to keep the blessings)
Cosmetic: use the same skins as the 1h versions, either duplicating it to the 2nd weapon, or letting you pick either skin separately, not in the manner of weapon customisation, but by having multi modelled weapons be split in different pages
Grenadier Gauntlet
- Slug version: No explosion, but faster rate of fire, faster melee loop based more on straight jabs
→ Special: Armour piercing close ranged strike - Fire grenade: Small pool of fire, bigger area of effect, slower melee loop based more on sweeps
→ Special: Firebreath shot
Flamer:
- Fire pike: Increase range of the flame, but decrease the cone of action
- Traditional Flamer: Give it the ability to set the ground on fire for some moment.
Bolter
- More precise version of the Bolter (More damage, but slow rate of fire and less ammo)
- Magdump version of the Bolter (Less damage, but high RoF and ammo reserve)
Bolt Pistol:
- More precise version of the Bolter (More damage, but slow rate of fire and less ammo)
- Dual Bolt Pistol
Combat Shotgun:
Sadly I don’t really think there are ways to make it work with the current blessings, so they’ll probably need to be treated as separate weapon family
- Slug (Pseudo Stub Rifle)
- Jurry Bolt rounds
Melee:
As melee weapons for the most part are just different move sets, I’ll just list certain mechanics that I’d like to see on certain new marks.
- 2h Force Sword: Vertical Ranged attack that deal stronger damage, but is harder to get whole hordes with
- Evicerator: Using Bretonnian 2h Sword’s move set
- 2h Power Sword: Improving Elven Greatsword’s move set
- Thunderhammer: Using 2h Dwarven Hammer’s move set
- Crusher: Improving WP’s 2h Hammer move set’s move set
For dual melee weapons, I’d consider those to be better off being treated as new weapon family, with a couple of designated sets (Catachan Swords, Catachan Daggers, Catachan Sword and Dagger, Dual Chain Axes…).
