Blame the play testers. If you know who they are, one is even a mod here, they are all about “My way or the highway”
Any criticism of difficulty brought up now is met with “Game was too easy, go play damnation” “That part of the map was too easy!” Speaking of Carnival.
God forbid you can hold out an area. Did these people not play VT2 at launch? You had to huddle up to win. But hey, now we get objectives like first one on the new map. It’s hilarious with no cover getting shot from every direction. I know though, skill issue, right?
No, more like unfun. Things can be difficult and fun. One of the reasons Helldivers 2 was a sinking ship at one point not too long ago.
And for the record, all I play is Auric Damn, and Maelstrom. 100% Pugged for 1200 hours. I still play it, and have no problem with a diff increase, but criticism shouldn’t be scoffed at by these people who think they are some elite players behind the scenes when they have the devs ear.
Just now I read a comment in discord by such a person in response to someone complaining about shooters. Dismissed with “Too easy, go play damn” as a response.
I’m sure they’ll have a laugh in discord about this, as they do to posts on reddit and here, and I’ll laugh reading their comments in response.
I got no idea what the hell they are planning with the crafting update, but if these play testers have their ear on that too, have fun with a reset. It may not be bad if you played over a 1000 hours and unlocked every blessing, but I doubt that’s a majority of people.
after so many runs, the smelter ending was a brain off shooting gallery once the 3 infestations were cleared.
having to spin 4 wheels isnt rocket science but at least it aint static and forces people to commit till the end.
havent played all map variations yet due to some simply not being in auric maelstrom rotation but i havent found one i didnt like or fail because of it being different.
medium players gonna fail no matter what, so why balance around mediocricy?
those that strive for maximum performance and investing a couple 1000 hours as their main game should be the measurement for the difficulty ceiling and i for one would welcome a setting with >5% success chance on my best day.
if the highest existing becomes your standard and anything less isnt even worth warming up in, any increase is a welcome addition.
not that heresy or below gets anything taken from them, doubt that the change there is even noticeable and those struggling were before already.
But you don’t even complain about difficulty here, you just complain about people’s responses to your criticisms.
The changes, while I don’t agree with all of them, have been such a positive for me that I hope they aren’t changed. If you have a specific problem with one of them maybe bring that up instead of whining about other people.
I always saw that as the reward for completing all the eyes in that section, which on pub can be seriously challenging on higher difficulty. Often because I’m the only one actually attacking the eyes
Not every inch of the map has to be brutal. Can have some fun easy bits where we get to just mash stuff and let off some steam, especially if it’s after a challenging section.
Trouble with lower difficulty is that they have way lower enemy density as well as lower enemy hp so I don’t blame people for wanting to play higher difficulty.
Fs need to ramp up enemy density for lower difficulties imo. Scale down hp if needed but give people less empty maps.
I’m not having any issues with the difficulty presently, if anything, its a pleasant challenge and I’ve been enjoying auric and maelstrom.
I think the map changes are fine? Some seem unneeded but hey, no biggie, if they think its needed fine by me.
As others have said, I just want challenge, and something to get my teeth into. These changes to blessings or whatever, couldn’t give a hoot. I’ve been using the same lasgun for almost a year, about karking time something changed lol
Actually, thats a point, my gaming buddy who I often reference when claiming they have driven away players? Well, I told him about the upcoming crafting changes, and the plan to convert blessings to “Mastery”, and he said he’ll jump on with me to grab some blessings in preperation for the update, so he can customize his weapons. So from my perspective at least, we’re winning here?
Where really the playtesters eo much involved in the designs of the new maps? I thought Fatshark had level designers? Playtesters should come after that.
While I’ve got ~500 hours in this game, and think vanilla Damnation is now a little overtuned, I don’t really blame Auric for being hard. Stuff happens and eventually they’ll calm the director down a bit.
You have to remember, the people specially invited to that testing group are the same people who blatantly used macros on stream, lied about it and just claimed they were able to pull off button combinations that were physically impossible.
These are also the same people getting free viewers by FatShark promoting their videos and guides in the launcher. The relationship between these ‘testers’ and FatShark is incestuous in the extreme.
The little shooter dudes are so ridiculous now. The actual gunner ELITE enemies barely do anything when you have gunner resistance on curios and one burst from the random tiny range dude that get spammed all over the place just rips you to pieces in seconds. This makes no sense and is baffeling why GUNNER resistance doesnt protect you for enemies with guns
Agreed and im the same i only play aurics it isnt that i don’t want the game to be difficult. its i want it to be fair and feel good, having a shirtless rager now absolutely FLY accross the map mid swing the then none stop spam attacks at the speed if sound without stopping doesnt feel good to go against and you have to pretty much only fight them with range now especially when they think 15x is a fair amout to fight in a single patrol, you run out of dodges and get your pants pulled down it doesnt feel satisfying to win it just feels lucky and dying to them you just feel cheated.
They were already tankier than the flak armoured ragers because they are “maniacs” so they have intinsic damage resistance to heavy attacks so their justification for doing this also makes no sense
they should have made a level 6 instead of spamming endless hordes from behind… theres level 6 in solo mod so why not in game? how can this new mode only give 9k exp ?? games take soooo long and are more annoying than fun now i agree with this… the damn level process became so much slower with this update and the amount of clutches became insane last night i rescued a total amount of 41 agents in a single mission… and they weren’t even that bad tbh… also why not create a new missions in the old maps with those reworks instead of changing the existing ones… i miss the real hab dreyko end event :((
I have over 1,500 hours in game and I’m ok with the difficulty increase, map changes, and proposed crafting change. I just want my characters to be able to share weapons, which hasn’t been addressed. Playtesters doing pretty good in my book.
not to speak for anyone else but I personally would be rather irritated if the crafting update forces a progression reset or further grind of pretty much any kind. Players who’ve been playing with the current system up until the update drops deserve to have that time investment respected meanwhile new players deserve a progression system that feels reasonable and good.
