Does FS actually look at suggestions on the forums?

Especially gameplay feedback or does all of those posts just go into the ether never to be seen. I’ve seen many debates which results in confusing conclusions in the eyes of a product owner. Just wondering if the forums are abandoned by the devs or not. Also how they prioritize the weight of discussions and working them into tickets.

If he completely listens to the forums, the game will be ruined. Right now, there are many opinions on the forum, each with its own supporters and detractors, and no one can convince anyone else. If all of them were implemented, it would definitely cause chaos. Everyone has their own idea of what balance should look like, and no one is winning the argument. Moreover, the relationship between balance and fun hasn’t been clearly defined. A perfectly balanced game may lack fun, leading to lower player retention. If the fun is high, balance tends to suffer. Instead of having them rely on the forums for changes, it would be better to let Fat Shark make their own adjustments, and then the forums can provide feedback for further improvements.

I hope not.

The only thing most people can agree on is that they disagree.

There are also some of the Testers here that have at time pushed some things to the devs as good idea.

Perhaps by utilizing the upvote/heart system they have in the Forum? Ideas that are widely accepted by community members tend to get upvotes. Weirdly enough, I do not see an option in the Feed to sort by popularity like I do with the Darktide Subreddit.

Posts that suggest detailed changes have a tendency to get buried faster even if they receive a lot of upvotes, unless they’re controversial and debate keeps the post from being locked.

VS

hope they seen the purgatus thread…

according to playtesters like epic coal (@Epic_Cole) there are actually good changes incoming in the next big update regarding balance

They listen, but they’re smart enough to ignore some ideas and to avoid taking part in debates. Although, updates are planned in advance and some changes take longer than others or are abandoned as more trouble than they are worth.

Food for thought: Swagger’s internal name was travelling_salesman for two years before he became the expeditions travelling salesman.

Brother?

hopefully they listen and still act on things

this is a different game, but as soon there is some changes about the balance of the game, instantly 1 specific community going rogue and review bombing xd

and i hope fatshark wont be discouraged cause of 1 community
but if they also dont want that happen is also cause it would be bad for shareholders i guess having the game rated badly

Tbh, in the case where there is such a problem, I wager it might simply be healthier to keep the Chinese side on its own closed servers that keep the current balance, and have other servers that have harder/normal balance

You mean probably the biggest yet the most underrepresented group in terms of “balance input” is exploring alternative venues for voicing their happiness and agreement with the current status quo?

Nice, i for one think that a little bit of review bombing is infinitely superior outcome to the alternative :+1:

lol why?

If group A prefer to have weapons be balanced, and group B would prefer to keep currently over powered weapons as they are, it’s a stalemate.

You can’t have both groups happy at the same time. Unless you each give them their own little bubble to exist in.

Here you’d have group A: Nerf as needed; and group B: Buff things without too much care.

wish i’d understood this, but i really don’t know what you mean

don’t think fatshark will ever do that cause obviously it feels a bit too much

but all i can say is that it’s crazy to me players from that community coming here in forums and raging just cause things got nerfed fairly

it’s sadly in their culture to win with any tools available btw, and sometimes they go extreme about that and cheating too, and if those “tools” get nerfed then somehow they just become mad, instead of adapting and improve

plus i see them playing when they stream and obviously they play ultra hyper meta builds everytime with all mods of the world and stuff.

That however entirely skips the part where one group could be right and the other group could be wrong!

Especially when its possible that one group is labouring upon a delusion of speaking for everyone outside China, in the process ignoring the possibility that said group might very well be a very vocal minority that isn’t really speaking for the sentiment in their respective regions, right?

Cactus you fancy two dozens of loud locals for a group that speaks for everyone outside China when it comes to balance?

It’s just a containment forum. No one cares. Some issues, bugs and quality of life requests have been sitting there unanswered since the beta release.

The lead designer will do what he does and you will like it. That’s the gist of it.

Yeah if the Chinese think Duelling Sword doesn’t need a nerf they’re objectively wrong.

And now that you reached for the lowest hanging fruit and fashioned it into a strawman we move onto the more challenging stuff, okay?

Like this,

with stuff like this in it,

receiving wide acclaim from the community!

So yeah, the balance discussion isn’t just about the Dueling sword, but it has rather destructive elements to it as well, with certain localy popular takes having plenty of room for being objectively perceived as trying to murder Darktide to appease a small delusional segment of the community!

Like it or not, the balance debate on this board has ever present element of “nerf everything to make the game better” and people are free to draw the conclussion from it, a legitimate conclussion about this board fitness to involve itself in the balance debate!
