I hope so, but then again 90% string modifiers were around since Signal Update just not flagged to actually roll that high. So maybe some day, I would definitely not assume our gear is permanent if they were rolling red gear in the Gamescom 2019? footage.
I wouldn’t read too much into the absence of a patch for the bug. They could very well be deferring it until the major update, but that’s not an unreasonable call - depending on how much of a PITA pushing a release is, doing the hotfix for something that does not impede core gameplay/functionality may be undesirable.
If people were duplicating Aquilas, it’d likely be a very different story.
Could very well be true if they would only communicate with their community…
It’s been an interesting and fun activity for me since I thought, feck it, why not, I’ll use this bug too and see what I get.
I’d been stockpiling random 370+ for a while anyway, using the Web shop mod to keep an eye out. Sadly I didn’t have massive plasteel resources ready to go.
Ive spent real plasteel circa 20k, and crafted probably the best part of 50 - 60 oranges I’d guess. And of those actually I gained not-that-many target level 4s, and a crap tonne of ‘almost’ weapons that I’ll probably hold onto for when I can sell them for plasteel or Melk cash.
I got some unusual lvl4 blessings that Ive rendered down admittedly, but what struck me still was that even with what I’d had accumulated x 5 with this bug, there’s still loads to unlock that I’ll likely never get around to trying.
And if fs think that’s a positive then I’m baffled. It’s like releasing your b side and keeping the a side for radio only.
Best thing to happen to DT and it’s an unintended bug. You can’t make this up.
Well I’m here to just eat crow - they indeed did not fix this as fast as they fixed shirtless (I think) which does surprise me.
same thing with shirtless. Just about everyone loved it.
tbh i haven’t hopped in to take advantage of this bc it’s still pulling the slot machine and I just can’t be fkd to engage with that even if it is essentially for free
I betcha they’re worried about the inevitable conplaining from here, which would’ve been/will be well deserved. Shirtless is just a free invisible shirt they won’t give us and that’s been an albatross around their neck for a minute.
Now, they’re faced with another inevitable combination of bad design intent and spaghetti code: they left their playerbase thirsty and then left the tap on by mistake, and nobody wants to turn it off.
Nah - I just think they’re to busy relaxing from gamescom/preparing xbox release.
Noone left for hotfixes - and the 100ish persons who propably know about this bug aren’t that big of a problem…
Possibly. As @Mayson says, other games often make old gear redundant. It’s either that or they delete all the ill-gotten equipment from people’s accounts.
I’m not super surprised they haven’t fixed it, but I also won’t be surprised if they have a way to undo the ill-gotten gains somehow ready for that next patch.
But will they simply delete the items, or revert them to their dropped/bought state? I guess it would depend on what they do about the difference in resources.
Although I also remember them saying something about not being able to revert items?
My personal suspicion (based on nothing other than “it makes sense to me”) is that weapons are actually fully rolled when they drop and we just unlock features as we upgrade it. If so, reverting them to their drop state would be pointless.
If they don’t want people having the items at all, they’ll probably just delete them.
Not a great idea (aside from the fact that almost everyone would likely hate it).
After getting new and better items, people will likely delete their old and now redundant gear.
Anyone who replaced their gear with new equipment that they got recently, would basically get a full reset back to the stone ages, if FS decided to delete the new items.
I do not know how long this has been going on, but i am sure that by the time they fix the exploit, it will have been available for multiple weeks.
By that time, you should expect that pretty much anyone who still engages with the crafting system, has accidentally performed the exploit at least once.
If they decided to delete the exploited gear, FS would punish the entirety of the remaining (and already unhappy) playerbase independent of them having exploited the system intentionally or not.
Aside from that, it would be like punishing a bunch of starving people for eating food that nobody else owned or needed.
Depends how hardcore they are about it. It’ll be obvious to them who might’ve accidentally triggered it a couple of times and who’s been deliberately exploiting it.
I think it’s probably more likely that they’ll just make it all redundant though.
They won’t delete 2 weeks of craft…
but no fix… seriously, I think that they will do something that will make this bug irrelevant.
So I guess… 80% cap increased or removed.
I can be wrong… however, I will stock my plasteel.
Well i hope they remove the 80% cap.
And allow us to upgrade the modifiers of our existing items (possibly as the only way to get beyond 80%).
Otherwise, it is just the same garbage all over again.
Spinning the slot machine for better gear, with no real progression.
Not to mention people could easily be doing the bug accidentally. Should they be punished? I doubt they would retroactively remove items and blessings earned. This is fatsharks mistake, plain and simple.
There are no plans to roll back any of the items players have got through this bug - but just as a heads up it will be fixed pretty soon!
I notice a distinct lack of “we’re also not planning on making them redundant” in your response ![]()
