Do you guys ever saw a "meaningful" use of voice chat in Darktide?

Don’t you dare go trying to get them to remove voice chat.

Saw? Naw, but I have heard plenty.

Right? Like what is the purpose of this question? The tone of the text implies “why does this even exit, I never [hear] anyone use it?” But man, I hope that isn’t the intent because di-k move if so.

I would honestly prefer if no one talked because 99% of the microphones in use are utter garbage and/or have open mic spam noise in the background like fans, children, televisions etc.

I’ll be completely honest, most of my voice chat is spent telling players to follow, stick together, why are you in this difficulty. I hate that very few of my voice interactions have been spent doing positive things. Even tried going into a game trying to do things in a positive way… Eventually started talking like Hadron. “See white dot with things around it, go there and do thing.”

Might not wanna say this part out loud tbh

People who don’t want to hear other people speak can go into settings and turn the VC volume right down or mute the specific people who are annoying them. There’s no reason to try and take it away from everybody when there’s perfectly functional ways to turn it off for yourself.

I’m a north EU player too, and outside of some wonderful elevator musics DJ’s every once in a while, and a few roleplaying oggies back before summer, not really.

But tbh even though I’ve been a gamer my whole life, usually with VC on just in case (my own mic is on mute), I can count the number of times VC was truly useful with the my own fingers. Meanwhile the other ten thousand times or so it’s only been used for anything between creepy breathing, blasting unwanted music, random chatter, toxicity, or stating the plainly obvious for the newbies (which is useful for them ofc, but not for me or anyone else who actually knows the game and pays attention to its own visual and audio cues).

VC is just useless in general, outside of friends or organized competitive / guild activities.

Personally I find that darktide is best accompanied by long rambling conversations about cooking

NA PC player here; it’s very rare to find players using voice comms in-game. Typically those that do either don’t seem to realize that their mic is even on or the audio is too quiet to really understand what they say anyway. I have encountered the occasional manlet who is quick to chastize others for perceived poor performance, but I could count the instances of that occurring on one hand.

I don’t really see the need for voice comms in this game. Yes, it can help but the fundamentals of team play are simplistic enough that it’s essentially obsolete. Effective team play can be boiled down to maintaining coherency, tagging specials/elites, and pinging meds/ammo/movement locations. Adding in a microphone doesn’t add much to this at all, which is frankly a sound design choice.

I only open mic to tell my teammates theyre dogshit.

there is no person in this thread saying anything remotely close to that, was just curious what other peoples experience is with the in-game voice chat, maybe someone got a cool/funny story to share.

Your title, mate, it has some very negative connotations what with you putting meaningful in quotes and your opening just saying how you have not even heard many people use it in the first place.

We were just commenting on that.
