The scoring system in that mod is so garbage, I turned it off immediately. It takes score away for using a med station. I am fairly certain that when I play with people who refuse to use their allotted med station charge before moving on, they’re doing it for their score.
For real. I see that all the time and it’s annoying. I will always tag the thing in case they forgot to heal, or they might not be playing a Martyr Zealot.
I have no shame. If nobody uses the med station, I’ll use it to heal up 5 hp if needed. I figure, that’s going to be the moment where I let the team down by dying, but all I needed was 5 extra hp and I would’ve stayed alive. ![]()
There’s a mod called Scoreboard Enhanced Defense that adds damage taken, deaths, and downs to the Scoreboard mod. It’s a great compliment to the mod.
The numbers for sure are wonky. I refer to it to see how well I do in order to improve. I check out others talent builds after a game if they did exceptionally well so I can get ideas to improve on my own builds. It’s been very informative that way and has helped me improve on my own builds.
Exactly this. If we finished the mission without any drama, it’s a gg.
I usually type it. But sometimes I alt tab or do something else after completion. Some people don’t type it ever. I don’t take it personally.
It’s made worse by the sometimes very large disparities in killing power, which I guess is unavoidable to some extent, but often there are external factors that aren’t part of the base game that are used further worsen it.
The staff cheaty spam macro/mod is fore sure one of them, and before some blow a gasket, we’re not talking simple click RSI automation here, we’re talking about stuff that goes way beyond that. There are other exploitable tools to use here too. @Bleaker there are macros and mods that go way beyond RSI avoidance that many use.
I wish there was some simple “assist” mechanism for on-kill where it let you at least share half the numerical benefits (or scaling) with the person who did half or most of the damage, it might at least reduce some of the spikes.
If you’ve ever noticed someone consistently shifting elite targets for instance to always land the killing blow, you’d see there were shenanigans at play.
Do you mean there are “cheats” where one guy does a lot of damage to an elite, but the other guy is able to always re-target if necessary to ‘finish it off’ and get the kill? Is this common? I’ve never even paid attention to something like that. Damn.
They could be on console, unable to type. They could have to go pee finally or get a chance to eat or do something. I play with a premade of 3 and my 2 buddies never type gg even though I always do. It’s more of a habit from growing up with SC. I don’t mind when people ignore gg/it doesn’t bother me.
Its quite obnoxious. Please don’t, players can see what you are fighting the first time. In fact, by spamming, you could discourage players from helping you, which could make you spam more in a funny cyclical way,its a tides thing.
The game is about killing efficiently, you’re never stealing by attacking.
As far as scoreboard, I am on the side of the fence that more information helps me grow as a player. Thats how I learned V2 at the end of a map I looked at damage taken and damage dealt. I would set goals for myself like trying to get over 10k dmg with under 100hp lost. Darktide not having a scoreboard for vanillas sake is a disappointment for me.
wow I didnt know this, how funny!
Common enough, but many don’t have the skill to pull it off to kill-steal, but more (?) often it’s for their “own targets”. It’s really hard to notice most of the time, but a few times it stuck out like sore thumb where a player was ping-ponging between near-dead things to “kill steal” for benefit.
It’s sometimes hard to quantify and qualify these types of things and some are more egregious than others.
P.S. complement (sorry! Pet peeve)
Personally, I out-perform most of the time. Usually, I’m at the top in terms of raw damage output 85-90% of the matches & this is as an Ogryn. I honestly couldn’t give less of a sht about the scoreboard. As long as we win all that matters to me personally. I haven’t come across people that were sour about that maybe I just got lucky. P.S. I always say GG at the end of matches, but I don’t if somebody was being an a-hole then I say nothing.
To be honest, I couldn’t care less about people using macros and other stuff. Skills that trigger on your kills in a coop game is a fundamentaly bad design.
outperforming is more than racking up kills or dps.
(both in itself is great mind you and helps the team proceed)
again, speaking from personal experience, it rarely happens but if it does i’m thankful for another lesson to improve myself upon.
“outperforming” would then entail some real awesome clutch that gets the mission back on track and the match saved, me included, and its always something to learn from.
dealing more damage is good per se, but situation wise there could be a tasty platter of elites being served right up the zealots way or vet has the golden ankle with a plasma shot.
psyker gets blessed by his beloved and blue flames roast 15+ shotgunners spawning. etc etc
good in itself, but “performance” is the whole package.
kills, damage, operated gadgets, peeps put back on their feet and so on…
a guy doing everything “better” for 30 minutes straight? mad respect mate, you know your sheet and it shows.
now, up in the higher auric maelstroms i usually got a good constant flow that aside from staggers and blocks has me in the “yellow numbers” in about all the rest.
which i take pride in, make no mistake here, though at the same time having done more damage, kills, buttons operated etc than all the rest combined, THAT is annoying for the fact everything’s been my job again.
so roughly every 30 or so matches i see (and we’re talking randos here) some more level numbers across all players, though usually its 2 vs 2 when it comes to score.
and every 150+ matches i see someone pulling off a clutch that saves the run (record every and upload the successful matches, so i can take a look afterwards).
if he did it with kame hame ha or knife slicing like a bad kung fu actor, i dont mind, might makes right und “erfolg gibt recht”.
NOW there is an annoying component though to the whole eddie-tekken noob combo □□○○□□ or jeffrey’s B/B/B from virtua fighter, you know the guys mashing 2 or 1 buttons on the pad and getting results…
that’s when it starts interrupting the overall momentum.
sometimes enemies align only after a short while.
sure you can spam into the horde and hope for the best.
more often than not though you’re kicking them out of balance right at the wrongest moment and a connecting shot from your mate that’d eliminate them instantly misses, all the while you continue spamming them to death, taking in essence longer for the same thing and thus stalling the momentum your team could have build.
that is the only time when people pyss me off, knocking enemies around JUST when i was about mowing down the lot of em and wrap up the encounter.
everything else, as long as it gets the job done EFFICIENTLY is fair game in my book ![]()
there are some things you might be doing, if your routinely shooting the thing melee characters are actually swinging at that can be really annoying, it happens by accident quite a bit so you need to be deliberately repeatedly doing it to trigger most, but if your “kill securing” your not just wasting their time they need that kill for toughness regen and maintaining buffs. which they need because your not killing the things shooting them just what he already has covered. that is really annoying!
its a team game and the enemy is often as much a resource to share as it is a threat to kill, a good player is more focused on what to kill than trying to kill everything.
a scoreboard makes you focus on competitive comparison as you are measuring against others performance but its not a competitive game they are your team getting a huge score over your team may very well be a sign that your just not a good team mate.
there are pvp games where people who know its a competition will be willing to compete with you.
It’s human nature. Answer is obviously yes. Envy is strong.
We can type lol, but yeah homie is definitely overthinking it, just chill and enjoy the game I say.
Personally, I like when people out-perform me, it makes me want to become better and revives my fun of the game.
But if they are better at filling in my role, as in I can’t do anything, then I get sad.
Kill count is not the only way of determening the effectiveness of something.
It’s everything, but I really appreciate when people actually kill the respectable amount of specials, usually those people perform the best and make the match easier.
I mean, do they need to? If they didn’t say anything it doesn’t mean anything.
Whatever man, do what you want and feel like doing, and it seems that nodoby said anything so there is actually no problem at all
I think the obvious answer is leave pre-targeted enemies alone and focus killing on other things.
- Always keep the killing efficiency high, dont waste time on pretargeted enemies.
2. The fact that the Zealot had to run in when the infinite primary fire psyker didnt do anything should speak enough levels to why it happens.
Seems like you already know the downside to your playstyle. Now even though you can really ks in a coop game, you still understand how the enemy was already dead but you technically still wasted precious time stomping your foot into an already caved-in skull.
Scoreboard for harder content really doesn’t mean much. I mean yeah if someone is doing like afk levels of damage its maybe important, but generally speaking people have designated roles, sometimes that doesn’t translate into high xyz.
For example, a vet focusing on counter sniping specials and disablers in a high havoc mission is going to be nowhere near the raw damage of a psyker flaming hordes.
What scoreboard?
I installed a lot of mods but I never installed scoreboard. If there is one thing I totally don’t give a dam about is how other people at team are doing when it comes to metrics- I can see that without scoreboard. If they die a lot and if they do objectives.
As long as it’s a victory, I don’t care. Also - you know pretty well how you are playing. You don’t need scoreboard. Are you scoring these headshots? Are you flicking with that revolver? Are you fencing 15 Crushers and coming out victorious? Did you solo that boss away from team overwhelemed by horde? Did you bring all these batteries? You got downed or not?
Besides a lot of higher level havoc is best done just rushing past everything. Scoreboard is even less relevant here. Map won, move on.
I mean, if the point of scoreboard for you is to get annoyed then it’s best to uninstall it.
like across the board? I don’t believe that is possible to steal ALL circles in a team that isn’t incompetent/full of replaced quitters
in case its the latter the new arrivals can get their own circles since their trackers aren’t tied to what is shown to you so everyone gets their own participation trophy
