Do anyone have any FPS increase tips?

I have been experimenting with my settings for a while now, but i still crater from 100+ to 25-30 fps when things get hectic after they changed the fullscreen thing. Its really annoying because i feel like i am moving through molasses and my attacks and movement just dont feel right.

I nuked my settings down to the lowest they can go, i added different mods to nuke them further, fiddled with my control panel settings as well, and changed some stuff in the config file to get better performance.

I also tested the different FSR 3.1 frame generation and Nvidia DLSS, but the performance is still lacking.

These are my specifications, a bit outdated but it is what it is.

Have you tried fiddling with the number of worker threads? I think you can only mess with that option through the settings panel in the LAUNCHER (not in-game).

One of my computers ran horribly until I turned the worker threads DOWN of all things.

I feel like a GTX 3060 should do plenty well. I have a 4070 MOBILE which about the same speed as a 3060 desktop and get 80+ frames consistently on pretty high settings. I do use DLSS as it makes a big difference. Make sure v-sync is off.

Also - the Morningstar is impressively heavy and taxing on your frames I’ve found. Missions during hordes are usually comparable to running the mourningstar and looking at packs of players. How’s the performance then for you?

Hmm ill try reducing the worker threads and just test things out, it does not really make sense, but who knows, might work.

When i am in the mourningstar i tend to stay at around 100+ fps from what i remember off the top of my head, i have not really kept track of my fps while in the hub.

Sadly no. Darktide forces you to make a CPU/GPU leap if you want the game to run well.

I have an i5-13400F and a 3060 and I get consistent +100 fps (at 1440p with most things on medium-ish level) with the FSR3 frame generation mod (I don’t like the visuals of the inbuilt FSR3 Darktide has).

I’ve yet to try the following, but it seems to work for some people?

Frame generation in darktide absolutely fuks my sh!t up. Same for ambient occulision. System also performs worse if using upscaling. Shadows has never had any impact in a non-pvp game. Lighting depends on your cpu. Im still running an i5-10300H from a few years ago overvclocked to 4.2ghz, still bottlenecks my sht. U gotta know what part of ur system lacks and how the settings compensate.

I do use Latency/Ultra latency mode in some games and it helps after fixing the rest of the settings.

Years old hardware, still runs solid 70-80 at high, with some caveats.

Disable Portrait frames or picture rather in options… Boosts FPS a bit. Also turn off a lot of your effects too.

Impact VFX Limiter is a mod to check out, and I would recommend turning on DLSS set to Performance mode. Ultra Performance makes it look like an oil painting but I get better performance with DLSS on at the expense of some low-quality stuff at long range that isn’t often relevant.

You shouldn’t need to nuke ALL of your settings, depending on VRAM and GPU settings you can crank up texture quality and related GPU-only stuff pretty high without losing any performance.

Also make sure you aren’t running anything else in the background like web browsers. For external programs, if you’re on Windows, I would highly recommend Process Lasso and RivaTuner Statistics Server.

Go to config files(%appdata%\Fatshark\Darktide\user_settings.config you can just paste that) and play with numbers, some of them impact performance a lot, but do not look much different, don’t forget to make backups!

However, do not change anything under section detected_user_settings, changing values here lead my game to reset everything to playable 12 fps.
You want to look into master_render_settings and render_settings

By the way, if you’ll see something like rt_light_quality = "high", know that these settings do not do anything unless you set Raytracing on.

..._map_size and lod_object_multiplier settings have the biggest impact besides settings that you can change in the game in my experience. Don’t make them less than 2x2, that crashes the game in my case.

I just now looked into your settings, I don’t think you really need to do all that, unless you really want to sacrifice your image quality for some FPS

I use a laptop with 3060 gpu and here are my settings :

Mods for performance I use are Darkcache (not preloading mourning star)
FX Limiter

I do have some fps drops when I am in the middle of psyker’s staff explosions for example.
Probably should get a mod for that as well
