DLSS Frame Generation doesn't work on 1080p

Issue Type (Required):

Performance

Issue Description (Required):

I know the title sounds a bit odd but for whatever reason DLSSFG does not work when I set my game resolution to 1080p (my monitor’s native resolution). Frame gen works on resolutions below 1080p and above 1080p, but if I set it to 1080p FG starts to become very choppy (140~fps feels like 50fps).

I have tried:

  1. Switching from Fullscreen to Windowed to see if FG works
  2. Lowering/raising settings to see if it changes anything
  3. Tried using user Vizra’s 2 fixes for fullscreen enabling and texture streaming (also tried with both fixes disabled)
  4. Verifying game files

Occasionally DLSSFG does work on 1080p but I have done nothing differently when booting my game to see what could be causing the problem.

thanks for the reply, if it’s on the radar then I hope a fix can come soon.

Okay, so I may have stumbled upon something on accident but it appears that DLSSFG works in 1080p when I’m using Special K with a local install. The only difference between using a local Special K installation and just playing the game normally is that the Special K install is done through a custom wrapper .dll file.

Not entirely sure what else is being done by the .dll file but DLSSFG works perfectly fine while using Special K with no noticeable loss in displayed frames compared to a non-Special K boot.

Another update, I probably should have mentioned it from the start but I’m playing on Darktide on a laptop. The exact specs of the laptop are a RTX 4060, a Ryzen 5 7537HS and 16GB of RAM.

I didn’t test it earlier but apparently DLSSFG does not work only when I’m playing with the MUX switch enabled, what this means is that my display output is directly controlled by the GPU. If I disable the MUX switch however the game runs perfectly fine. I’m not sure why this is the case but I hope this can give more context to the issue.
