DLC Classes Need Hestia, Havoc, Commissary and Premium Cosmetics

Can someone explain why the DLC classes still receive so few cosmetics?

I am not only talking about Commodore’s Vestures. Why are Arbites, Hive Scum and Skitarii also mostly ignored by Hestia’s Blessings, the Commissary, Havoc rewards, events, and other cosmetic tracks? We paid for these classes, but compared to the original four, there is very little to unlock or buy after their release.

There are so many easy ways this could be handled. For example, Skitarii could receive evolved versions of their existing Forge World armour.

  1. A more advanced Branx Minor set could be added to Hestia’s Blessings (its blue!! so it fits),
  2. a darker and more decorated Stygies VIII set could be earned through Havoc (its black, fits current havok cosmetics),
  3. and Mars or Ryza could be used for another achievement or event.

Not simple recolours, but proper upgraded versions that show where they came from and what the player achieved.

The same could be done for Arbites and Hive Scum. Give them improved versions of their class armour through penances, Havoc, Hestia, or the Commissary. These classes have very strong themes, so there should be plenty of room for meaningful progression instead of giving them a few launch sets and then almost nothing.

And yes, give them paid cosmetics too. I genuinely do not understand what is stopping Fatshark from making new premium sets for classes people already paid to play. They have already shown that DLC-class cosmetics are possible, so why are these classes still left out of most cosmetic releases?

Cosmetics are a large part of the long-term progression in Darktide. When three entire classes cannot take part in most of that progression, playing them feels less rewarding. Please start supporting DLC classes across all cosmetic sources, not only with the small number of sets included at launch.

Like look at these blue colored Moebian 6th Loyalists skins, the color is literally same as Branx Minor - they can create something similar to these for Skitarri at least? even if they dont want to make anything in the same vein

and these Havok skins fit Stygys so well.

Mars or Ryza counterparts could also be incorporated somewhere else as well.

Also why is the Delux edition locked to Mars only? there should be other forgeworld colors as well. Its just a recolor, it cant be that much effort.

and whats up with the unreleased Arbites skin - put it in, what is stopping you?

Overall, I think really more should be done here. Specially meaningful cosmetics. Ones you obtain by doing the super hard penances, or by getting 4000+ points in Hestia’s Blessings.

No. No one can. There is only speculation, there has never been an actual answer, and there likely never will be.

Mr. Magnuson, he said in an interview with Jefficus that Hive Scum will have additional cosmetics for the store that will be released further down the line. Its been 6 months and no news on this. Why is that?

Unlike other issues such as Solo play, this one actually makes them money. Helps pay those salaries.

  • Could it be because DLC cosmetics have a smaller market? Maybe, but people who already paid for a class are probably the most likely people to also buy cosmetics for it.
  • Could it be a technical limitation? Arbites and Hive Scum use normal human bodies, and Skitarii already has several working cosmetic sets, so clearly it can be done.
  • Could it be Games Workshop approval? That may slow things down, but it does not explain having almost no continued support at all.
  • Could it be because free rewards should not be useless to people who do not own the class? Then add class-specific penances, alternative rewards, or simply put the cosmetics in Commodore’s Vestures.

Every possible explanation has an easy answer, so I honestly do not understand what the real reason is. What is actually stopping Fatshark from supporting DLC classes after release?

Nobody knows, and most likely there will never be a public reason.

My guess is that there’s some kind of legal, licensing, or platform issue for cosmetics for the DLC classes. Maybe there’s rules somewhere against DLC for a DLC, or their license for the Warhammer IP only goes so far, etc, etc.

I can’t see any other reason why there wouldn’t be cosmetics; there’s plenty of incentive for it, after all.

That was Jefficus. I have never spoken to Mr Magnuson.

Fatshark is extremely reluctant to update Hestia/Havoc/Commissary stuff anyway. It almost never happens and is almost always a reskin of some kind when it does.

Premium? They haven’t for DLC classes and probably won’t ever.

i very much appreciate that you don’t just ask for premium cosmetics, but morei mportantly correctly point out that the new classes lack all the other cosmetics too. this sentiment is a little too rare.

before premium cosmetics i want them to populate the achievement track, penances and commissary with cosmetics for these classes. weapon skins too of course.

iirc people said on reddit that arbites can only wear their regimental uniforms (which is understandable for a police force) and that gw has to release the corresponding miniatures before they greenlight the skins for arbites.

however, that’s for arby. scum on the other hand can wear pretty much whatever they find, from zealot style rags to “found” guard items to pompous psyker regalia, while pretending they can wiggle their fingers and make heads pop. hell, you could even stuff 3 of them into an ogryn jacket.

Ok I need to see this like YESTERDAY.

Yeah. I mean it really needs them. specially havok and hestia, they really do give a sense “pride and accomplishment”.

Makes no sense though!

Yikes, I am sooooooooo sorry.

Man's Whoopsie Moment

I had listened to it a long time ago and I got confused. Been watching a lot of your stuff recently, specially the Mr. E debate (which I loved btw - hilarious interaction and suuuuuuuper informative - learned so much from both you guys) - so I had you on my mind - a lot - lately.

I’d love some Moebian outfits for the dlc classes. More Nox Alpha lore (lore in general for that matter) would be nice.

The descriptions could say something like, “this set of arbitrator armor was a gift from commissar whatshisface for his scholam buddies”, “the lowlives of the Sixth would pawn pieces of their armor for amasec money, to terrible effect” and “after the battle of Branx, the tech priests of Branx would bestow a contingent of Skitarii to the Sixth, for their invasion of Nox Alpha”

Why do we get little to no communication from Fatshark? Because on release a lot of people were so aggressive (not without reason, unfortunately) that Fatshark decided to cut interactions with their audience to a minimum in order to not say anything that they might find aggravating. A decision that, although disappointing, is ultimately the correct one, with a crowd as volatile. One only needs to recall fow how long people were harping on phrases like “this isn’t CoD” and “clutching pearls”. The same reason we seldom get anything even close to a roadmap. People can’t misconstrude and nag about something that’s not there, and nagging about lack of stuff gets old quick

The problem was they kept saying stuff that they could not back up. Like promising features that never came, deadlines that never hit, snide remarks that took the players for idiots. It was not very bad, but bad enough to get a reaction, they had notoriously bad CMs back then too.

Now they are doing a lot better - they release roadmaps. that is good. all thse are good, we need more now. more transparency. and also community voted content. put a poll in here, let us vote on the next class (bad idea) and next map or stuff they want to release. be transparent. now is a better time.

This is not accurate.

Fatshark continued communications for years, seeing massive improvement under Strawhat (who is no longer with the company) before discarding her and very quickly doing the same with her replacement, Kitefin. Now the CM role is one dude doing double-duty and the tech support peeps.

The current near-total silence is a relatively recent development and probably spurred by the same people being in charge who were in charge when Strawhat had to fight for every scrap of info, but without a dedicated employee around to actually challenge them.

I honestly would love if we could even just get simple recolors for Arbites. Like, surely on Sand World they might have yellowish-toned armors? Or maybe a blue one for some Water World. There’s even a water world in the Moebian Domain! This just feels like extremely low-hanging fruit. And I’m not meaning technicolor here, they can still be kind of drab. There’s just . . . at least color variety.

And that goes for all the basic cosmetics you unlock. Why aren’t we getting more colors? Paid cosmetics come in all manner of colors and styles, there’s no reason not to have basic color swaps as unlockables.

serious question, do you think the hundreds if not thousands of other devs who do a great job communicating with their community and properly interacting don’t have toxic communities that make death threats over minor things? that’s all gamers my friend

i’m not excusing the behavior, but it is absolutely par to the course, and other devs just communicate anyways. it’s no excuse. fatshark comms are just bad because they don’t care much about it

Yep it’s another truly baffling phenomenon from FS.

If they can’t update the store then why not just tell us? The not knowing is much more annoying!

I saw the video you posted the other day - I think it was you if im not mistaken, but it makes sense, are they following this?

i’m not talking about surveying here at all though, just general communication to be clear. i think the two concepts are seperate

It’s weird that DLC classes feel like abandonware the second after they’re released o_o
