Devs should be forced to play Havoc 40, with modifiers, at least 2 of the below:
Rotten Armor
The Encroaching Garden
Contaminated Stimms
Why? Because it’s the antithesis of the point of playing videogames. You have no choice regarding what to do - once your screen is filled with Carapace and Flak enemies, you can only do the 1 or 2 things your chosen build and class can reliably do to do enough damage to these enemies to defeat them.
It’s the opposite of choice, of breaking the routine, of doing something interesting - you just start applying the algorithm as your eyes get used to seeing only the green from the toxic gas from Rotten Armour and your ears get used to hearing
So while I lean towards agreeing that those difficulty modifiers are pure cheese, at least some devs do play the game. One of them suffered with us for 10 games before we actually managed to complete that mission
Quite normal. Aqshy, one of the VT CMs at the time, did actually play the game and was good at it. That was an extreme anomaly though, not just within Fatshark either, I rarely see CMs that actually play the game.
On the topic of the OP: When playing Havoc 40s I often came across 2 different Fatshark devs. I never asked them what their role at the company is, but I assume they could just be random artists/marketting/etc who are into gaming. Going by their balance decisions for Havoc 40, I don’t think that the same people who are directly responsible for Havoc design actually play Havoc.
